Anyone who throws 100 mph is a perpetual injury risk. Hopefully, Pearson only has to miss this season and not anything beyond. Would have loved to seen Ryu/Pearson in a three game series but 2020 isn’t a serious contending season for this squad so no sense rushing him back for this year.

True but 100 mph with a SP workload is a heightened one. Obviously mechanics, delivery, etc, factor in. That’s why I see manipulating a pitcher’s service time to be ridiculous. The 7 day delay for Pearson was a no brainer in a 60 game season but in a normal circumstance, just bring the pitcher up when he looks ready.

should have just scrubbed the whole thing for 2020!!!!!!!

ETA: pitchers DID NOT have their usual 'build up ' time to enter the 'regular season'. This was malpractice by the MLB brass and the teams!

Might not be a bad thing. His debut is now out of the way and he can focus on pitching. Like Vladdy, he has never failed in the minors, any MLB experience is good for his development. I’ve only heard positive things about his work ethic and his stuff is electric, so health is the real concern.

Is Merryweather being built up to start? If he isn't he should be after today's start, he looked lights out.

He along with a few others are being built up to face the first 27 batters. Whether his spot is at the start of the game, or 2nd in or 3rd in shouldn't matter. I think it will be a long time before you see him facing all 27 himself

Don't forget about yourself

Still here.

For all you Tellez haters, after 2 seasons and 500 PA's he's hitting around 31 homers, 85 ribbies a .243 average.

His OBP, OPS and walks could be a bit higher, but overall I think its a good start

Don't flame mods, pretty simple.

There are other options beside banning if the moderators are giving the power by the admin. Like taking away a poster's right to start new threads or write posts. Deleting a post or thread by a poster.

But sometimes there's just no other way but to ban the poster. They are just continuously disruptive or disrespectful.

We really are not out to ban people. Lately some people are essentially asking for it though.

Thing is, because Tellez's defensive value is essentially nil (technically, it's a detriment statistically...) he has to be CONSIDERABLY better than other hitters to provide value, he's on a great run and I'd love to see it continue, but it needs to for him to have any value at all to the team.

Jays hitting stats as a team since August 11th:

BB 9.4% K 20.6% .278/.350/.522 WOBA .369 wRC+ 135

Tied for 2nd in fWar with the dodgers at 4.4.

And thats without Bo for a majority of that stretch.

His career uzr 150 is +2.5. He’s not a bad defensive first baseman. He’s significantly better defensively than vlad at first at this point and he has a wRC+ of 123.

I think DP is referring more to the defensive value of 1B.

Looked up Rowdy's splits, as a platoon 1B would be even more tenuous. But his splits are fine, slightly worse numbers against LHP.

With a bit more experience and improvement on the numbers, he's more than an AAAA player.

The NBA is coming back likely on Friday, and Betts is leading off for the Dodgers today. If the Jays and Red Sox didn’t think to “boycott” yesterday, then it seems pointless to do it now. ESPN will mention it in passing and then move on to the NBA again.

Mazza vs. Ryu. Toronto/MLB should kindly tell the Red Sox to go f*** themselves.

Yeah if they postpone tonight’s game no one is going to give a s***. They aren’t scoring any PR points by doing anything today. The NBA has already said they are coming back to finish the playoffs. The other leagues don’t have to feel pressured to do anything anymore. If anything they should have done it yesterday. Day late and a dollar short.

Given our tiny 60-game season that should be a forfeit then.

Red Sox arent going anywhere this year anyways

A's/Rangers and Phillies/Nats both postponed today.

I don't think the Jays are playing tonight.

Baseball will use today for a token 1 day protest and then return tomorrow, having accomplished nothing. I was just reading that like 6 NFL teams cancelled practice yesterday. So bizarre.

It is never too late to take a stand against racism.

Hopefully the NHL follows suit, for a day at least the focus should be on racial injustice and not sports.

Yeah, I dont get it. Wont play today but we'll make it up in a double-header tomorrow. If It's just going to be an empty PC thing, why not just express things some other way

I say boycott until Bichette resumes baseball activities next week and do 7 inning double headers instead. Our BP is designed for this.

4D Chess move.
