Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 If we are relatively lucky with injuries then maybe one of Roark or Anderson pitches well enough to be traded. Let's just never try to win. Trade everyone! Sell high, buy low. Like Cashman says, if you aren't making changes, you are losing. Clearly Boxcar's comment was sarcasm towards Bob's fetish of trading guys who haven't thrown a pitch yet in a Jays uniform. Obviously everyone would be onside with a trade that improves the team, including those two if they pitch well and net a high return. But if those two pitch well, that increases the chance of the team actually competing in 2020. If the Jays are in the hunt for a playoff spot, maybe trading two overperforming middling SPs that would get a haul of prospects indicative of two overperforming middling SPs isn't worth that much. Maybe keeping them and hoping they continue to overperform in 2020 and help the team into a playoff spot is the MOST value they will ever have.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Sell high, buy low. Like Cashman says, if you aren't making changes, you are losing. The Jays have signed like 100 players this offseason.

EMK19 Verified Member Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Odd how theres no one between #15 and #22... I’d figure they’d be popular numbers, even though #19’s been left open as respect to JB (at least that was the story last yr; if that’s the case then may as well retire it?).
jerb Verified Member Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 The Blue Jays are 4th: Aside from the Twins, a few other clubs stand out here. How about the Blue Jays, tied for fourth with seven projected solid hitters? (Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk, Danny Jansen and a huge rebound bet on Travis Shaw.) Mike Petriello @mike_petriello In the total absence of any other baseball news, I looked at 2020's deepest projected lineups and ... going to be fun in Minnesota. MORE-> https://t.co/YSuIdJhP4L

MORE-> https://t.co/YSuIdJhP4L That's a fun example of some binary binning bias; only one Blue Jay projects to be more than 10% above average by Steamer (Vlad). I would guess that the Yankees, Dodgers, and other teams tied with Toronto there have like, six guys who project to be that good.

HAHAHAHAHA (please give this guy like 20 thanks for this post so his need for praise for his lame puns is fulfilled and he stops doing this)
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 HAHAHAHAHA (please give this guy like 20 thanks for this post so his need for praise for his lame puns is fulfilled and he stops doing this) Don’t need any praise my friend, just so much good material from this incident, I can’t help myself. Breaks up the monotony of what had been a pretty boring board up until now. Apart from my puns, I actually stand by that statement regardless of off-field incidents. I think Reese is a good hitter and over the course of a season with sufficient playing time would out perform Grichuck as an all around hitter and possibly WAR.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I mean, I guess "good" can be subjective.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Does anyone know if Reese McGuire has rookie eligibility for 2020? He is under the AB threshold and BR says his 2020 rookie status is still there, but it looks like he might be over the service time threshold? The service time threshold does not include IL time and time in September though, IIRC.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Borucki shut down with elbow tightness.
jerb Verified Member Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Keegan Matheson @KeeganMatheson #BlueJays starter Ryan Borucki is dealing with some left elbow tightness and they’ll be cautious with him. Not a set timeline right now. No MRI, Montoyo said.

Not a set timeline right now. No MRI, Montoyo said. Seems like a good starting point for the dreaded mid-summer TJS, which will effectively take two seasons from him (3 if you include 2019, lost with elbow inflammation/bone spur stuff).
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I mean, I guess "good" can be subjective. That's true. You're a good guy Boxy!
jerb Verified Member Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Keegan Matheson @KeeganMatheson #BlueJays GM Ross Atkins says that Borucki has, in fact, had an MRI recently on his elbow. It revealed “tightness” and they’re gathering information.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I don’t think Ryan Borucki is ever going to be a useful MLB starter
