I know. Draft picks attached = RFA.

I think it all depends. If you sign him to an offer sheet, then you might have to give 4 first round picks, if the Braves match ofcourse.

Chris Archer really interests me. What would it take to get him in a Jays uni?

Probably not much of anything.

I don't think the Pirates even have a GM yet, and when they hire one, it will likely be to cut payroll. He's coming off a down season too. Might be the perfect time to try to acquire him. Two more years left on his 'the Rays offered to violate me in my prime and I said yes' contract. Ideal for the Jays right now. If it doesn't require a top prospect, go for it.

Archer has two options for $9M and $11M. Barely more than what we are paying Chase Anderson. Zero sense to trade him for nothing. Maybe mid-season if part of his value returns.

Pitt would want a good prospect. They’d probably ask for someone near the back of the Jays top 10 + some other lottery ticket type prospect.

He wouldn’t be free

ERA since 2017

Chase Anderson: 3.63

Chris Archer: 4.43

Something has gone wrong with that slider. Or something else. Archer has been trash for a few years!

Would Merryweather get it done?

I like Odorizzi, he had a good year. He does pitch in the AL Central, the worst division in baseball, but at 30 years old he's now had six years of at least 143 innings pitched. His strikeout rate has gone up, his velocity has gone up, and it's not just like some fluke spike year we've seen before, because in this day and age you can figure things out, you can work with your pitch designers and get better. He looks like one of those guys who've figured it out. Edited by Beans
