Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I want to see Puig come to the Jays. Drama withdrawal?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Drama withdrawal? Yes. And I think eventually he puts his tools together.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I'd love Puig, for sure, but why would he play in Canada if Miami is offering him a decent contract.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Urena has been dropped from the 40 man roster to make room for Shaw.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Japanese reporters are saying Akiyama to the reds for 3 years 15M +, Heyman reporting bidding has reached over 20M and reds in front. Seems likely to come to a conclusion soon either way
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Another Ozuna/Castellanos suitor bites the dust probably. I'm not privy to the Reds' budget availability, but I don't see how signing a CF would take them out of the running for Ozuna/Castellanos, unless this signals Senzel moves to a corner OF instead of back to the infield. Winker is constantly injured and both he and Aquino are not good defenders, with the latter very much being an unproven commodity.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Reds fans seem to think it closes the book on Ozuna/Cast (actually they think they're trading Senzel for Lindor lol). Senzel can only move back to 2B/3B but they have Suarez/Moose. I think he's definitely an OF and they now have Senzel, Winker, Aquino, Akiyama, VanMeter, Ervin. For some reason they also claimed Martini, Payton and Jankowski. But then again, Big Dick Williams is a bit of a wildcard so who knows. Nothing wrong with a top 4 OF of Senzel, Winker, Aquino, Akiyama. A few big injury/failure risks there so I doubt anyone will end up blocked. Being said I would 110% sell Aquino if I was running the Reds. Sell sell sell sell sell sell sell. Kind of sucks for VanMeter to get squeezed like that, you'd think that a .455 wOBA in AAA would earn a guy some rope but I guess not in 2019/2020.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Pathetic look for the Cubs. I like what they have done. Supposedly they have been told not to exceed the Luxury tax. Right now they are estimated at $6M over the first Luxury tax spot. They have put up ridiculous price tags on Bryant, Contereas, Rizzo Javy and even Schwarber, and they haven't wavered. If no one pays their price they still have options to get under. If they stay status quo they are still as good as anyone in the central. They have a bunch of bench pieces that play multiple positions (Kemp, Perez, Descalso) and signed a couple upside bullpen pieces on split contracts (so they can send them down and it won't count against the cap).
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Pathetic look for the Cubs. Yeah, still in their competing window and they are prioritising saving money. Embarrassing.
M.E. Verified Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I don’t get why they are saving. They print cash there. On MLB channel they joked that Rickets needed money for his other projects. Not sure what that refers too.

Doesnt matter who breaks out this team is going nowhere as long as Atkins keeps giving furnaces to his white boy crushes

I can't see any reason why atkins would specially write that in for Drury after he just said hes gonna have to fight for playing time

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Nelson off the board, but Wood, Walker and Salazar are still out there. Would love to pick up one of those guys. Is Salazar going to get anything more than a minor league deal? Can he pass a medical? I'm not sure Wood or Walker would cost much.
