The gist I get is that the official made a lazy and condescending remark about Stroman not being a veteran compared with Thor and DeGrom, even though the latter two are both younger and/or less experienced than Stroman. Law saw it as racist, which Stroman seems to believe is the case based off of his reply.

But that's not what the poster you quoted is doing. He's just saying he doesn't blame them.

 

I'm not assuming racism myself, both Marcus and Keith just seem to have bad blood with the Blue Jays' FO in general. But the quote was definitely an attack on Stro's personality and it's not too far-fetched to think that racism *could* have played a role. Quote seemed toxic as f***.

 

People on the internet can say whatever they think about Marcus of course, it's very much okay not to like him. But you expect some professionalism from people in the FO, that's just part of the job.

Stroman is easily a #2 or #3 starter on a good team, just not an ace. Let's not be silly here. I agree with the race stuff. This had absolutely nothing to do with race, and should never have been brought into the argument.

 

All I think the original statement was saying is they're under the impression that Stroman thinks the world revolves around him, and going to New York he was going to find there were other guys people a lot higher in the pecking order. He was going to learn his place as a player, not as anything else.

 

That said, hating on Stroman is just stupid. He was a good player for us, who loved the team, the city, the fans, and apparently wanted to stay through the rebuild. It would have been nice to see him be a little more professional, but that's about it. No one should be wishing him anything but the best.

You're making a lot of assumptions on what Stroman is stating. It feels a lot more like a petulant child acting out and agreeing with any negative comment whether it has merit or not against the guys who let him go. There's been no direct quote of Stroman accusing anyone of racism. I'd be shocked if reporter haven't tried to bating him into such a comment. Nothing has come out. The guy has venom for a front office he can't stand. That's it. Keith Law is the bigger idiot for for making this into something it's not, and the guy who made the original comment is in idiot for making such an ambiguous statement.
