Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Would not surprise me if the Mets flip Stroman to the Yanks now.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 It is not possible that this was, or would've have been by the deadline, the best deal available. Other teams must have gotten the sense that the Jays did not realize all the numbers on how good Stroman is and where his numbers stand league-wide.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Don't you think the Mets would have offered the same deal in the offseason considering they are looking at next year at this point? Why would they take this deal from them now 4 days to go still before the deadline. It's f***ing batshit mind boggling. What in the actual f*** is Ross Atkins thinking? This is the deal he was afraid of losing in three days from now?
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Other teams who were going after Stroman must be wondering what happened. Lots of time left until the deadline and an underwhelming trade. I agree with many of you, Mets could probably flip Stroman right now and make the Jays look really bad.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Wtf Edwin Diaz would be an odd return. It is not possible that this was, or would've have been by the deadline, the best deal available. Other teams must have gotten the sense that the Jays did not realize all the numbers on how good Stroman is and where his numbers stand league-wide. We gave them too much credit for Cleveland. There were probably other smarter people involved
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Some collusion going on or they are drunk R you suggesting Atkins is being paid on the side for this
tercet Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 lol Shatkins, when should we expect the press conference in which they say Kay is a good pitcher? Then Shi Davidi will come out with a 2500 word piece on why Kay is good.. lol Shatkins

Other teams must have gotten the sense that the Jays did not realize all the numbers on how good Stroman is and where his numbers stand league-wide. The current league trend is high strikeout and whiff guys, and Stroman is not that kind of pitcher. It's entirely possible that the contending teams really didn't value Stroman as anything more than a mid-rotation guy. I don't understand why we wouldn't pull the trigger in a few days as opposed to now though. Surely someone would have gotten desperate and coughed up a top prospect. The return may end up working out well for us, but good results aren't the same as good process. It'll still be a bad trade.

I'm really hoping the Mets do trade Stroman and get back better than what they gave up. Atkins needs to be fired immediately and Shapiro should be on the hot seat.
Plat Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Mets fans seem to be really upset at this trade...??
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Mets fans seem to be really upset at this trade...?? Probably because no one wants to cheer for Stroman.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Yep, Shi and Wilner and BNS will be the mouthpieces for their masters. Jew power and support no matter what is what this is called. Lol..
Plat Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Probably because no one wants to cheer for Stroman. They seem to be really high on the Richardson kid
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 That's why I like Barker He maybe a hillbilly hick but he calls it like it is
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Wtf Edwin Diaz would be an odd return. They seem to be really high on the Richardson kid Reddit is a terrible place for capturing a fan based sentiment
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Talk about being high on a prospect, Mets fans are pissed they lost Woods-Richardson in this deal.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Jew power and support no matter what is what this is called. Lol.. Nah, they'd justify whatever whoever was in power would do. Wilner doesn't even hide it.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I miss AA and Gibby. I really miss AA a lot.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Would it not have made sense to trade for the best player(s) possible with three days left and then flip them to get pitching?
TheOutsider Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 SWR has upside but still far away. Kay was solid in AA and s*** the bed in AAA. They must be really high on these kids, or no way this is the best possible offer for Marcus Stroman. My theory is their scouting dept was drooling over a possible Pearson-Richardson 1-2, I'd probably be the same. Kay seems to me like a 'spin rate over results' guy, which I would hate. Extremely low groundball rate seems to be not playing so well for him with the 'juiced' balls in triple-A. Woods-Richardson, though, was on Fangraphs' expected to make 2020 top 100 list of teenage pitchers alongside... Pardinho and Kloffenstein. I hope they move quickly through the system next year.

Would it not have made sense to trade for the best player(s) possible with three days left and then flip them to get pitching? Only thing I can think of is that they are really high on this Richardson kid
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Mets fans seem to be really upset at this trade...?? One of those trades that everyone loses. Why the f*** are the Mets trading for Stroman? Why did the Jays trade him for a s***** return? Atkins appears to be a s***** GM.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 So where do Kay and SWR slot into the Jays ranking now?
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 It does feel kinda gross but I try to keep in mind that our front office has an excellent track record of identifying high level pitching talent - Kluber, Bauer, Carrasco, Clevinger, Bieber, etc. This is the silver lining I guess. He could end up a stud and hopefully they got it right.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Davidi already pumping the propaganda
TheOutsider Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Talk about being high on a prospect, Mets fans are pissed they lost Woods-Richardson in this deal. Well it's a bit like if your GM gave up Syndergaard for a starting pitcher with just one more season of control, and you weren't even that sure about being able to contend during that time period.
