glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 It's time to trade Stroman. Yup. The longer they wait, the fewer starts he has with his next team, and they also run the risk of a Ross Atkins "wait until he's injured or sucks before I trade him" situation. I like Stro and want him to stay long term, but that ship has sailed. Move him before his next scheduled start.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Still got to go out and get the assets you want, not the best assets you are offered.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 Has there been any update on Giles' health?

I like Stro and want him to stay long term, but that ship has sailed. Move him before his next scheduled start. It totally depends on the return. If they trade him now and they get a fringe top 100 with little upside as the main piece, everyone will complain about the s*** job Shitkins is doing. But that could be the best deal available. If the Indians play well and Bauer is not available, then the offer could be sweetened. Now if it's a reasonable deal, then I agree, pull the trigger now.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Still got to go out and get the assets you want, not the best assets you are offered. Agreed but are the offers going to be substantially different a week from now? I think we are close enough to the deadline where teams have an idea whether they are in or not (for the most part) and which prospects they are willing to move. I agree just trading him for the sake of trading him would be wrong, but at the same time waiting to get an offer that probably won't be there even if you wait another week is just risking an injury or worse. Honestly if I have faith in the front office I'd probably be ok with waiting, but Shatkins really scared me after last season.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Has there been any update on Giles' health? Back tomorrow!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 Back tomorrow! Hopefully he comes back and dominates in his next 3 or 4 appearances and still brings back a haul.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Hopefully he comes back and dominates in his next 3 or 4 appearances and still brings back a haul. in a row!!!!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 in a row!!!! Lol I'm annoyed that no one cares about this!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Lol I'm annoyed that no one cares about this! You'll really be annoyed when they don't trade him.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 You'll really be annoyed when they don't trade him. I know I will be
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 You'll really be annoyed when they don't trade him. I think that's probably where we are headed. 2 stints of "elbow inflammation" in the past month and a half are going to kill his value.

How many times are you going to post this same s*****, paranoid idea in this thread?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Giles 5 year extension announced tomorrow. The tank team in here cries more tears than purple haired libtards on November 9, 2016.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 You'll really be annoyed when they don't trade him. I'll be annoyed because he was used 3 days in row after coming off the DL and then immediately got hurt again, but keeping him instead of selling at 50 cents on the dollar would be fine with me. Disappointing but better than a bad trade.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 How many times are you going to post this same s*****, paranoid idea in this thread? Geeeeez - I've never seen that pattern from Glory before.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 How many times are you going to post this same s*****, paranoid idea in this thread? Less than the times you have mocked "tanking" for years now (even though the Jays are doing just that).
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 How many times are you going to post this same s*****, paranoid idea in this thread? This is one of the narratives board *******s use when they disagree with you.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 This is one of the narratives board *******s use when they disagree with you. Yeah I noticed that. What's more puzzling is this is the trade deadline thread, and the topic he is accusing me of repeating too much is about how the front office TRADES players at the TRADE DEADLINE. He's gone full Brownie. Apparently you can only bring up a point that Dick and Brownie disagree with once, and only once, otherwise it's deemed too much. But hopefully Dick's anti-tanking "Jim wants to trade everyone" posts continue. That's not repetitive at all.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Brad Peacock suffers a setback with soreness in his shoulder. Could put some more pressure on the astros to land a starter.

Yeah they look like a really good trade partner for the Jays/Stroman, and Atkins seems to make a lot of trades with them. I just don't know who they can possibly give up to make it worth it for the Jays. Martin would have made sense but he's out for a while. They won't trade Tucker/Whitley/Alvarez. I'd vomit everywhere if we get JBB so hopefully that's not an option. I think I mentioned this before, but acquiring Josh James and putting him in the rotation (HOU currently using him in the pen) might be a decent short term move, but would still need prospects on top of that to make it worthwhile. Astros definitely have the need. Whether they have the trade pieces is the question.

IIRC last time I made mention of that was around the Pillar trade, notably when Jim started shutting the hell up about trading him. Notice how that pattern of conversation works? You can make a comment about it without lamenting that the team's GM is an idiot in every post. The Jays are on pace for 100ish losses in an environment where wins could have been picked up easily and efficiently on the free agent market. We all know Atkins is an idiot.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 So will you guys openly criticize Atkins if he is unable to deliver on the Giles and Stroman trade I think a conversation like this needs to take place with the Yankees and Astros You want Stroman great we want prospect X (Clint Frazier i.e.) Oh you dont want to okay, Bye. Stop wasting time please.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 I will barf if they trade Stroman to the Yankees and Clint Frazier is the main piece. He's not good, Yankees have been trying to hype him up for like 3 years now and he still can't lockdown a spot on the team.

They brought him up long enough to go on a mini run to audition him. Until teams adjusted and then sent him down so teams wouldn't see all the flaws. Do not want!
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Helps the Stroman value a little bit, now they need to get rid of him before the same thing happens
