Can one of the forum Mexicans tell me why Vlad is sometimes called Vladito? What's the 'ito' suffix?

ito = litle = son

Vlad + son = Vladito

Angelo (me name). My son = Angelito

He looks like he's gotten in a bit better shape.

And today's shape happens to be a barrel.

I'll expand the answer to support my Mexican knowledge:

Adding 'ito' or 'ita' essentially works as a nicety. It's typically added to make something small or cute.

Gatito is a small cat or kitten. So his story checks out. What is the Mexican suffix for Fat?

Gordo or lardo

So we don't want his grandmother to turn him into Vladgordo

Feels weird that we now have a monster bat in the middle of the lineup after watching the offense flail away for 3 weeks.

I had been hoping at this point we'd have both Vlad and Donaldson in there somehow

Don't know what they would have done about positioning them

Definitely something to build around. How do you suppose they protect him? Would hate to see him get pitched around all the time...

Lineup protection isn't a thing. If Vladdy is pitched around and is on base - that's a good thing!

Vladdy is being treated as if he is babe ruth incarnate. I have never seen so much hype. I sure hope Montoya and the Jays will do everything they can to protect this very young star from the inevitable ups and downs of playing in the majors.

With that said can hardly wait for his debut.

I have probably received almost two dozen At Bat notifications pertaining to Vlad Jr. since Wednesday evening. No lie.

We have so many black holes in our lineup it's a joke. If it were up to me I'd just say to hell with the traditional lineup construction and group our best hitters at the top, regardless of how slow they are or how weird the lineup looks. Pillar was a good fit for us I wish we still had him, it improves our OF defense from seemingly one of the worst to a very good one.

But anyway, Monotoyo apparently didn't learn anything while he worked for the Rays and as long as Sogard and Galvis are swinging a hot bat (if that's even a thing) it will work for him but eventually those guys will settle in as the sub-85 wRC+ hitters we know they are. But here's what I would do:

1. Vlad Jr.

2. Smoak (S)

3. Tellez (L)

4. Grichuk

5. Hernandez

6. McKinney (L)

7. Jansen

8. Galvis

9. Sogard/Drury (L/R)

Against lefties play Drury and move Tellez and McKinney down in favor of Hernandez and Jansen. If we called Biggio up he might be able to solve some of our leadoff issues.

It's airing on MLB Network, and every show has been about Vladdy the last 2 days, unreal.
