Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Poor Grichuk has to talk to Arash again today. He's so awful. Bring back Barry or just let Hazel Mae do it. Buck, Pat and Arash are just so bad I can't help but watch the other team's broadcasts this year.

Buck, Pat and Arash are just so bad I can't help but watch the other team's broadcasts this year. I used to watch the other team's broadcast, but honestly Buck and Pat have grown on me. They're the crazy uncles you spend a few hours a week with from April to October. If you're terrible at your job into your 60s it becomes endearing.

With Pat I go back and forth between crazy uncle and dipshit but with all the young guys he's driving me nuts. Madani is awful. I actually like Hazel Mae. I think the broadcast production is really good too. Maybe after a month Pat's "new young player" colloquials will disappear and he'll get back to his normal self. I'm sure I'll be back eventually. But the radio team is solid so I'll try them out some but it's also kind of cool getting to know the other club's broadcast eams. As a baseball nut it's another feather of knowledge to add to the cap.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I actually don't even know who does the radio broadcast anymore. Is Wilner still around? I can't stand listening to him call a game.

I've said this before, but I honestly don't think Buck is that bad. One of his traits is that his performance seems heavily influenced by who he's partnered with. So Buck and Dan are great, but pair Buck with a dumbshit like Tabler and Buck just feeds on all of Tabby's ********. Also, Tabler seems incapable of stating something without asking a question, so it kind of forces Buck to respond. Get rid of Tabler and the broadcast would be so much better. Hell, just give Buck a flask of rye and put a Tabler cutout in the booth and the broadcast would be so much better.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Extend Giles Nah trade Giles (to the Red Sox?) and let someone else pay him when he's in his 30's.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 You realize he got two hits in yesterday’s game, correct? A swinging bunt and a broken bat single, combined exit velocity might have been under 30 mph. He has looked awful thus far

I can't stand listening to him call a game. Wilner's on the radio team full time now (but isn't doing the Jays Talk). I think Wilner calls a great game. He's the complete opposite of Buck. He uses facts and Buck makes s*** up. I'm disappointed in those who think Buck is acceptable. You're better than that.

I really like Ben Wagner calling the games, I think he's fantastic. I'm not sure why they swap every couple innings for who does the play-by-play but whatever. I don't mind Wilner I just find he still doesn't give the listeners the best visuals of the play as it is happening. He seems to misread fly balls a lot, which can be annoying. He will also make dumb comments from time to time being like "There's a twilight joke in here I can make but I'll refrain" Overall the radio broadcast is great
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 A swinging bunt and a broken bat single, combined exit velocity might have been under 30 mph. He has looked awful thus far I am a result oriented person, not so much how you got there.. The fact of the matter, irrespective of exit velocity.. He got two hits, one a double and 2 RBIs. He very well could have Kd, our first run was because a hitter put a ball in play and the 3b made an error..Gurriel put balls in play. It is early, as mentioned I think he hits better when he is SS.. I feel 2b is not his strength and his D gets in his head at the plate. Just like when EE was 3B(E5). We have given many hitters much more leash... Still early... He will come around...
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 DSJ with a high chopper to first base for an infield base hit. Tellez look mighty awkward on that play that's was playable luckily that wasn't called an error he look more like some pee wee ball player trying to make a play trying to catch the ball bare hand then dropping in the glove then out on the field movement and range isn't his forte. I guess that why the scout labelled him a DH at best you can't afford to give extra out in baseball. Tellez is big strong boy one dimensional tool today the game is changing now team are looking at DH to more multi dimensional guys that can help a team in different aspect of the game.

He didn't double, and 2b is a much easier defensive position to play than short. Welcome to the IL, almost made it through the first week of April
