If the Jays were looking to trade Pillar, would this be the type of return they'd get? I know Pillar has been historically better and projects better, but this is probably the closest comp for him.

Hard to say since the Mets GM seems like white Dave Stewart when it comes to valuing prospects.

Pillar is more expensive with less control than Broxton but a much better player. I'd hope the Jays could get better for him than Broxton, but depends on the GM we are working with.

Holy crap the Yankees gave Britton 3/39

Wow, that's awful. They are going to regret that one almost instantly.

Britton has been really bad for 2 years (probably related to his knee issues?).

Can someone explain why the Yankees paid more for him then the Phillies gave Robertson, when Robertson is clearly better now.

The only thing I can think of is that they want to leverage Britton's ground ball abilities in certain matchups. They already have lots of other type of arms.

Britton has absolutely not been really bad for 2 years. He has a 3.00 ERA since 2017 - you're obviously just looking at his K/BB and FIP / fWAR. FIP doesn't work for extreme scenarios like Britton where batted ball profiles are actually controlled by the pitcher. Britton has been better than his FIP every year since he became a full time RP.

So Britton projects for a better ERA than Robertson. In other words, he projects to be better than Robertson.

He is also younger. And he had an agent this offseason, while Robertson foolishly represented himself.

And Britton has immense upside. Like, best RP in the game upside. 4 win reliever upside! Crazy

It's so hard to tell. Ever since he made up his little z scores, he thinks he knows everything.

Britton sucks.

I don't know why you guys think he's trolling. Britton has had a 3-win season and a 4-win season in the last 5 years, and has been good the last two years even immediately after coming back from injury. He'll probably be better this year with the chance to enter the season with a full ST. The Yankees aren't the Rockies here. They didn't choose him over Robertson for nothing.

You’ve already got worst post of the year wrapped up and it’s Jan 6

Is that bWAR? Fangraphs has him at 2 and 2.5 WAR seasons (hence my comment re: a 4 WAR season).

I was referencing RA-9 WAR. Since moving to relief full-time Britton has comfortably outperformed his DIPS.

Britton has like a 70% gb rate so it is understandable why he is a FIP beater but more troubling is his walk and K rates the last two years. That’s like Sanchez levels.

Aaron Sanchez should be a reliever, and he should maybe WANT to be a reliever.

Would suck facing Machado all the time again with him on a better team.

No way! He's a perfect fit for the evil empire. The Yankees are far too likeable these days. They need some bad guys

Time for Shatkins to steal McNeil.

Yeah, I mentioned in the 2018 thread that they aren't even planning to use him as a full time player lol.

I don't think McNeil is a Shatkins style hitter. He has no exit velo. 2.4% barrel rate, gross.

He had the best ISO in the Eastern League last year. I wonder if he was making a concerted effort in the majors to focus on contact (his K rate didn't slip at all upon promotion).

Anyone know why the Mets kept Luis Santana in rookie ball last year? He tore it up in 2017 as an 18 year old (165 wRC+, more walks than strikeouts)....then they had him repeat it last year? Are there different levels of rookie ball that don't show up on the stat lines?

So Harper is getting multiple 300M+ offers, but Machado is sitting between 200-250. I don't get the disparity.

Harper obviously has the bigger upside (as evidenced by his 9 win season), but Manny has been WAY more consistent and isn't 100% dependent on producing on the offensive side as he has proven to be an great defender at times.

The feeling is that Harper would be worth a monster 10-year deal, do we feel the same about Machado? Because that one looks like we would have a better shot at it given the market. Would actually fit in ok position-wise. You could put him at SS for a bit and move him to 3B when Vladdy 'out-grows' it.

It all comes down to half assing it in the Playoffs imo. That alone is taking at least 50 million off..if you can not play all out on the biggest stage and display attitude problems at the absolute worse time, teams won't pay record money for you. Also being called a dirty player by multiple teams in the playoffs in 1 year doesn't help either

Looks like he was in the DSL in 2017 and then the Appy in 2018. So he sort of skipped their GCL team. The Appy and Pioneer leagues are advanced rookie leagues. Being in them at 18 years old is quite appropriate.

Sometimes advanced players will skip the DSL and GCL entirely (see Pardinho, Vlad, Wander Franco) and be in the Appy/Pioneer at 17, but it's not exactly commonplace.

Predictions on Xander Bogaerts next contract? He's due to hit free agency next off season.

I guess we would really need to see where Machado settles. Boogers should get like 60-75% of that unless he has a s***** 2019.

If you use baseball-reference (or something else) you can see the breakdown for those leagues. That's one of the most annoying things about Fangraphs imo.
