This was an excellent read. I really like that MLB is taking the initiative and providing these interesting metrics to the public along with the explanation, bridging the gap between the uninformed fan with less publicly available data and the top tier analytical front offices.

I think the ump tossed him because he was clearly ready to scrap (dude comes off the mound and throws his glove and hat off, really?). And the next AB between the two was 100% gonna be a scrap and probably ignite a powder keg that will last a series and probably multiple series.

 

If the MLB wants to stop baseballs getting thrown at people, then these ejections will happen more often.
