Cody Allen was DFA'd by the Angels, fastball velocity just continued to drop.

D'd FA would be a more correct abbreviation but it just looks wrong.

He still has plenty of velocity even with the drop, he's just not locating the fastball. Maybe he's overthrowing in trying to compensate for losing a few MPH.

I'd love for us to pick him up as a free agent (but not claim him off waivers).

Marcus Semien deserves some credit for what he's done in recent years.

He's slowly gone from a horrid defender at short (-11.7 UZR in 2015) to a plus defender (8.1 UZR in 2019) and has also cut his K-rate nearly 10% since 2015 while also improving his walk rate by ~3%. Ranked 8th in the MLB in fWAR right now.

Cesar Puello was hitting .390/.500/.683 for the Angels with 0.9 fWAR in only 12 games. They DFA'd him today. Tough!

Thanks! I had him in my DFS lineup and took a another look just in time!

Okay, so why was he DFA'd here... This seems like there's some backstory.

The backstory is that Justin Upton is very good and he's a career minor leaguer enjoying a two week hot streak. The Angels will very likely not miss him.

That's cool, that's a good backstory. That also suggests that the Angels are paying the f*** attention and ignoring a hot streak...

There was some hype around Puello as a prospect I remember. We've seen a lot of hitters have late breakouts before, and he had the pedigree for one possibly.

Jays should pick him up ASAP.

It blows my mind that Madison Bumgarner is only 29.

I heard a prospect podcast compare Daniel Espino's "bad" arm action to Bumgarner's and I thought that was pretty coooool

With all the mileage on his arm, he's probably closer to being like 34-35.

Lawrie was being mentioned in the same sentence as Trout, once upon a fleeting time. What a dud.

Prob when at the time he had like one of the best first 100 ABs in history. That was before it’s become much more common for prospects to come up and mash

Can't recall the names but there were some articles written with Lawrie mentioned along with Trout and a few others as top young players in the game.
