BTS Community Moderator Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I see you did not read the article. Mr. Benjamin Clemens starts with a hypothesis that free agency is different - the narrative in his first sentence. He then falsifies that narrative in numerous ways. The conclusion is that the narrative is not true. His last paragraph is a bit weird, sure. The comment is not sarcastic. I thought the commenter believed that the narrative the author actually wanted to find was that bad teams aren't spending enough, given FG tends to always beat that drum. You might be right though.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 We should claim Kyle Keller. That's be cool.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I'm sorry, but how the hell do you guys know who Kyle Keller is?

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Gio at 1 and 5 plus a club option for a 2nd year seems like a great deal for the Sox.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 So where does Lindor go if he gets traded? Will the cost be astronomically high?
Maico450 Verified Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 So where does Lindor go if he gets traded? Will the cost be astronomically high? The Indians should be asking for the moon. They will probably get close.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 So where does Lindor go if he gets traded? Will the cost be astronomically high? Rumoured ask was May and Lux +. Rumoured reply was Seager, May & Downs. Some Reds writers have talked about Senzel, Greene and Santillan. Mets peeps are saying Rosario, Davis, Baty +.

I would seriously consider that if they add another top 10 prospect.

You get 2 quality prospects and if Seager has a great season, you have a shot at competing. You can trade him at the deadline with a year an a half left or at the end of the season with a year left and get another haul.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 The Detroit Tigers have completed their coup of the Twins’ right side, agreeing to a one-year deal with first baseman C.J. Cron, per Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press. This deal matches the one made with Schoop, coming in at $6.1MM
Ray Verified Member Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 White Sox might be decent next year? Giolito, Keuchel, Gonzalez, Cease, Kopech in their rotation. Madrigal and Luis Robert ready to fill their 2B and CF hole. Lots would have to go right but I can see their young guys stepping up and making a surprise run. Could use another big bat though.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Just realized that Russell Martin is a Hall of Fame catcher. Has more fWar than Posey and Molina. He'll be a guy that is debated a lot. Considerably less rWAR. A lot of playoff appearances with no WS. Just one GG, 1 SS, 3 years with MVP votes and zero big moments. I actually think he'll be a guy that never gets more than 40%.

I really thought he'd finally get a WS with this last stint in LA
Ray Verified Member Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 This guy tweeted this right as the Ryu deal came out, which would make sense as to why Ryu picked us. Maybe the Dodgers are actually trading for Clevinger?

Maybe the Dodgers are actually trading for Clevinger? That would be massive. It would have to be some major prospect capital coming from the Dodgers. May, Downs, and maybe Ruiz in play too.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 That story seems completely fake
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 That story seems completely fake How does it make sense from the Dodgers perspective? All I can think of is they figure they can't possibly fit all of their assets onto the roster. Kinda like Tucker with the Astros x4.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 That story seems completely fake Same guy said a week ago that the Dodgers were not willing to match a 4 year $80M for Ryu. Appears to have some knowledge of the front office for the Dodgers
