Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Here's something to draw away from the awful talk over the last page. Joey Gallo did an interview with fangraphs and he comes across as a very intelligent player, knows his strengths and weaknesses well and has worked on diminishing the latter. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/joey-gallo-talks-hitting/ One particularly cool quote is this one: Pretty smart dude, and it's nice to see that he recognizes how unique he is and doesn't try to be like any other hitter. Accepts his streakiness but obviously works on becoming more consistent. OPS IMO is a way overrated stat just taken by itself.. I like he is talking about weighted runs created and OBP.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Gallo suxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx He tops everyone on your DDL team.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 He tops everyone on your DDL team. When Boxy quits, I'll take on the challenge of fixing it.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 When Boxy quits, I'll take on the challenge of fixing it. It's a long term rebuilding project.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 It's a long term rebuilding project. Hey, I rebuilt the Frenchsoup dumpster fire into a contender in a year and a half
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Hey, I rebuilt the Frenchsoup dumpster fire into a contender in a year and a half This is accurate
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 This is accurate Alright, if you'd prefer to have Jim in the DDL over me, I hereby hand over my team. Have at it.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Apparently Nick Kingham was released by the Pirates. Wouldn't mind picking him up even though he's been terrible. Rather be giving him starts over Edwin Jackson.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 How do I create a poll on here? Was the Big Papi Hitman (sicario) better at killing people then Ex-Player was at Baseball? Mmmmm? Come on man, that one isnt even close Hitman beats me by a long shot
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I like the Kingham pickup. An arm worth a shot at the very least. The Pirates pitching magic seems to have dried up anyway (Archer)
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I like the Kingham pickup. An arm worth a shot at the very least. The Pirates pitching magic seems to have dried up anyway (Archer) I f***ing LOVE the Nick Kingham pickup, even if his velocity trend looks ugly. A young, former top 100 prospect is a lot better to take a chance on than some of the pieces of s*** on the current roster.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 What do you mean. Edwin Jackson was the #4 overall prospect at one point. A lot has changed in the way prospects are viewed since 1874.

I hope you just have really been wanting to get out of the league and it’s not because you’re the most sensitive little fudge packer this board has ever known. This post screams insecure teenage chick
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Teheran 0.81 ERA in his last 8 starts. Not pretty from the nerd stat side of things but he’s getting it done
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Ohtani hit for the cycle last night:
tbad Verified Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Can't believe Ohtani is only 24, dude is only going to get better. The way he carries himself, he looks like an Olympian or something... particularly when he's rounding the bases...
tbad Verified Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Imagine wanting Ohtani to pitch. Just bank his 5-10 WAR in the OF for the next 10 years and call it a day. I wonder if there's anything in his contract about it? Maybe the Angels can't force him to do one or the other as it would be against his contract - though I got the impression when he first started that this is not the case.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Imagine wanting Ohtani to pitch. Just bank his 5-10 WAR in the OF for the next 10 years and call it a day. Yup. He shouldn’t throw another MLB pitch. Let him make the most of the arm and speed and turn him loose in RF.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Damn, only one. You win P2F. Bob must have done most of his Ohtani fapping in private.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Yup. He shouldn’t throw another MLB pitch. Let him make the most of the arm and speed and turn him loose in RF. f*** that. If he returns as good as he was before the injury (and there’s no reason to think he won’t) he’s the most exciting player in the game. If he is exclusively an outfielder (or exclusively a pitcher) he’s just another great player.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 I can tell Bobthe4th is going to be a huge Spencer Jones fan in a few years.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 f*** that. Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Lol, you must be new to pitchers. He’ll still be only 25 when he’s pitching again. He’ll still be an elite pitcher.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 He’ll still be only 25 when he’s pitching again. He’ll still be an elite pitcher. Sorry Bob, but that doesn't mean s***.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 SirBj is like a jilted lover soured on love Noah’s non-linear path to pedestrian stats has made him lose all faith
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Yeah he's definitely an arrogant prick. Basically, as far as I can tell, he went at one twitter heckler who was a younger woman pretty hard for a few days and because of that once instance he is now a Nazi in the eyes of nearly everyone employed by Fangraphs and BP. Good god... This phony virtue signalling culture needs to end
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 SirBj is like a jilted lover soured on love Noah’s non-linear path to pedestrian stats has made him lose all faith Well sure I guess, but there are many better examples. (BTW connor, Syndergaard's stats are still pretty damn good, nowhere near "pedestrian.")
