Career BABIP of .408 in 549 PA's 4.2% BB, 35.3% K, 108 wRC+ A shitload more than that. I think it's like 2000 balls in play. Edit: Checked fangraphs: (2000 is for pitchers) " Research indicates that you need about 800 balls in play before a hitter’s BABIP “stabilizes.” In reality, there is no magic threshold at which one’s BABIP becomes predictive of future BABIP, but about two seasons worth of data will give you a decent indication of true talent."
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 How long does it take BABIP to stabilize? Alfaro continue to post a BABIP over .400.... Career BABIP of .408 in 549 PA's 4.2% BB, 35.3% K, 108 wRC+ It's been stated that BABIP for hitters takes north of 800 balls in play to stabilize. Given Alfaro's strikeout rate and the fact that he hits a good number of homers, it could take a while for his to stabilize and find out his approximate talent level. That's an interesting observation though, probably one of the highest BABIPs that I've ever seen from someone starting out their career for so many PAs. He hits the ball incredibly hard with few infield flies and a mostly normal GB/LD/FB distribution so it's entirely possible that his BABIP will tend to be higher.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Matz is getting his ******* absolutely destroyed right now.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Matz gives up 8 runs and does not record an out before being pulled.

Ray Verified Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Chris Sale sucks. 5IP 7H 4ER against the Yankees. Crazy thing is, his ERA actually dropped fro 9.00 to 8.50 coming into tonight. It's gonna be really funny to see the Red Sox drown in the Price, Sale, and Eovaldi contracts the next couple seasons. Lol Dave Dombrowski

Lol Dave Dombrowski Damn, that's too bad. Only seemed like it would be a matter of time before his arm started to give out considering the way he torques it. His mechanics always looked a little off to me.

The ESPN mics at the plate are objectively the best thing in baseball broadcasting. There's no better sound.

His velocity was apparently up and the K/BB numbers were good. He might be fine if the trend continues next time.

I have a hard time believing there is anything serious wrong with him AND the Red Sox signed him to a long term contract 15 days ago.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 I dunno, the Yu Darvish pitch that hit the batter in the nuts and the umpire in the throat is pretty good too...

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 You'd think someone would give him a shot? Wed, Apr 17 Brad Miller has elected to become a free agent. Advice: Miller was designated for assignment by the Indians on Sunday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old had a decent .742 OPS in 40 plate appearances with Cleveland and should eventually get another shot with a new organization. He's played for four different clubs in his MLB career.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 You'd think someone would give him a shot? Considering our clusterf*** at 2B, we probably should.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Considering our clusterf*** at 2B, we probably should. Very possible, it's not like he's ancient either at 29. Jays didn't claim him through the waiver process, but that could be a contractual issue.
