Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Idk, will Scott Boras take that if Sanchez is somewhat healthy next year? Even if he stupidly advises Sanchez not to take it, no one is signing Aaron Sanchez for an $18M+ AAV or even a big multi-year contract with draft pick compensation/penalty included. So there's no point for us to even offer it because there's a strong chance he'd take it and we'd be paying Sanchez to be a ~2 WAR pitcher when he's barely replacement level.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 What are our thoughts on Biggio's defense so far? Fangraph's paints a pretty sad picture unfortunately. His defense is a lot like Justin Trudeau - just not ready.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 No thank you don't need to keep getting Hosed by Cashman. When was the last time that guy made a bad deal, just look at what Seattle got for Paxton, Sheffield is barely a prospect any more Lets aim towards weaker minds.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 If the Yankees get Stroman, then we are getting Frazier as the main piece. No thank you. Trade with any other team. Lots of teams in contention, especially in the NL.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Jacob Waguespack is starting tomorrow's game.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Not surprised. They definitely looked like they knew what was coming.

When was the last time that guy made a bad deal, just look at what Seattle got for Paxton, Sheffield is barely a prospect any more Lets aim towards weaker minds. Ignoring context such as win curve, competitive window, etc., the team that gets the best player wins the trade. The Yankees are masters at using leverage to position themselves to acquire the best player. Trading Paxton for a guy who might turn into Paxton was considered by most in the industry as a light haul. The last time the Yankees traded without leverage they traded Sonny Gray for a 40 FV outfielder in low-A. The Jays need to acquire a prospect who has a good chance of being better than Stroman in order to win the trade. Collecting controllable 1-win players spread over multiple roster spots is a lateral move.

I still keep looking at Texas, Milwaukee and Colorado and As better dance partners ! Part of me thinks Colorado might even like Sanchez more then we do especially with that starting staff they have and this year. !

jmomcc Verified Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 I feel like this happened earlier in the season as well. I wonder if its still the arm slot.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Here's a great article from BlueRocky about how totally unique and awesome Cavan Biggio is: https://bluejaysaggr.com/go/159120 I think I just came reading this. I'm still feeling sore from the Devon Travis fap articles/analysis during his rookie season and what could have been. I refuse to get excited over this guy until I know he can play more than 10 games a year.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 I’ll reiterate from before, keep him at 2B and stop moving him around. I Feel the opposite Why not just keep him in RF where he plays Good already ???

Devon Travis' purple patch where he was just mashing line drive doubles is one of my favorite periods of any recent jay. Dude could f***ing hit.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 In a perfect world, I'd bang out a Danny Jansen article in the coming few days or so. We'll see what reality brings.
jmomcc Verified Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 I don't know if anyone listens to effectively wild on here but a few eps ago they interviewed the guy who created the trade tool below. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trade-simulator/ It's pretty fun. It's also pretty conservative which probably reflects how front offices are trending. It's a work in process but fun to f*** around with. It told me that stroman for frazier and perreira was close to fair which seems light to me. I will say that some of the values are off for me.. especially on first basemen.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 It let me accept Deivi Garcia + Luis Gil + Roansy Contreras for Stroman. Yes, please! That's exactly the type of realistic deal we should be trying to get. A legit Top 100 prospect and a couple of 45s on top of it.
