Since taking over in 2016, I am finding it hard to name one quality player thats been brought in at the MLB level, that you could make the argument for as being above average. Grichuk comes to mind, but other than that not a single soul.

 

Sanchez and Stroman are still AAs guys. Smoak was AAs, as was Vlad. Ken Giles I guess

 

So Giles and Grichuk,

 

I’m also a bit curious about this question. Above average is subjective, but..

 

- We basically got Sam Gaviglio from the Royals for free.

- We signed Oh, then flipped him for Wall and Spanberger.

- Does Steve Pearce count? Not sure. He was hurt a lot, but was above average when he played.

- Curtis Granderson?

- Galvis has been half decent, certainly better than having no shortstop like last year.

- Was Gurriel jr an Atkins move or before?

- Joe Smith for Taylor and Pannone

 

It’s mostly been stop gaps and guys flipped for B prospects, but when the regime joined and settled in we were already passed the buying phase. AA did most of the heavy lifting.

 

Not sure how we are supposed to evaluate Atkins while ignoring the farm system and only looking at major league talent when we’re clearly steering towards rebuild since 2017

Buttoyo seems like a really nice guy. The goal is to lose, so I'm glad he got his shot. I'm hoping he gets replaced in 4 years when we might be ready to compete.

These kinds of moves are always fun to watch. Feierabend has had some rough seasons however and it would surprise if he is MLB capable. HR are his downfall. I would have given the opportunity to Andrew Sopko, he is having an incredible year and is part of the future. Last pitched on the 14th at AAA.

Clay Buchholz had an MRI, which revealed a Grade 2 teres major strain. For context Grade 1 means no tearing, Grade 2 means some tearing, Grade 3 means a total rupture. So that's not good at all, he'll receive a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews next week. #BlueJays
