That's a decent line-up...

1. Eric Sogard (L) 2B

2. Freddy Galvis (S) SS

3. Randal Grichuk ® CF

4. Justin Smoak (S) DH

5. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ® 3B

6. Rowdy Tellez (L) 1B

7. Brandon Drury ® RF

8. Teoscar Hernandez ® LF

9. Luke Maile ® C

I'd switch Randal and Vlad, but fun.

I guess Montoyo thinks that even after sitting all those games - Galvis' bat is still 'hot'. Vlady 2nd, Galvis 8th and you've got this figured out Charlie.

I agree, Randal has no business in the 3rd spot so far IMO...

Looking through our depth chart, and I totally forgot that Devon Travis was even on this team. He is totally buried right now behind Sogard, Drury, Gurriel, and probably even Biggio.

I feel bad for the kid. I would say trade him, but I wonder if anyone even would trade for him given his injury history.

Statcast loves Drury despite his terrible start.

14.8% barrel%

.473 xWOBACON. This especially sticks out to me because this takes into account quality of contact.

45.9% Hard hit rate

xWOBA of .324 (this isn't exactly great, but still significantly better than his .290 actual wOBA that he's posting).

All in all, I see what the appeal is with Drury. There's something there. He can hit the ball really hard. It's just a matter of finding some measure of consistency. He might strikeout a lot and not walk much, but I really like him as a bottom of the order bat. When Brian Cashman trades a decent haul for you, you have to be somewhat good.

He crushes the ball to the opposite field. If he continues to make contact he could be in for a good year, considering that the defense in the infield has been much better than anyone would have anticipated.

Drury in RF tonight. Good move by Montoyo IMO.

I'm good with the move because Drury is finally swinging the bat well and our other OF options decidedly have not, but it should be noted that Drury rated as a horrendous OF back in 2016 when he played the majority of games there. Granted, it was three years ago and defensive metrics for a full season are full of noise, so let's see what he shows us tonight. It'd be great if he could play at the very least at a simply below average level.

Unfortunately, probably the only large amount of Intl Money you would get for him is a lot of Venezuelan Bolivar... :(

That's a s***** joke right now, just saying. moron.

Drury in the outfield isn't ideal, but keep Sogard in there until he inevitably reverts back to normal, and anything that keeps McKinney out of the lineup works for me (bad defence, bad base running, projected to be below average with the bat.....what the hell is there to like?).

Vlad batting 5th is bad though.

Apparently, the Jays will be looking to move Stroman, Sanchez, and Smoak before the deadline to try and stockpile more prospects. Not being swayed by their average start.

Last night on MLB NOW... Ken Rosenthal said "I believe... *pauses* actually I've been told the Jays will be trading Stroman/Sanchez/Smoak amongst others for additional pieces before the deadline to get players that coincide with Vladdy's timeline, amongst Biggio and Bichette, etc"

Here's a neat graph...

If after a month Vlad is hitting... say at least .280 .350 .450 and every one else has regressed a bit then lets complain... the things people are complaining about are the small things... the bigger thing is the low team on base percentage.

Glad to hear it. They don't fit in the current timeline of this franchise. Obviously Smoak will be moved because hes a veteran thats expiring but this might be the best time to cash out on Stroman. Sanchez they should probably try to get out sooner rather than later. Hes just not very good.

Decent line-up??? Dah fug are you talking about. If it wasn't for Vlad it would be bottom of the barrel.

What will happen wen Biggio and Bichette are called up, as they both play 2B?

Bichette plays shortstop.

Biggio can play in the OF

Bichette has played a total of 30 games at 2B in his professional career. He has played 230 at short.

He's a shortstop until he shows that he's not.

He won't be able to play SS in the majors due to his limited range.

Incorrect statement is incorrect.

You know the field is the same size in the minors, right?

At one point we had Jose Reyes at shortstop.. let that sink in for a minute.
