Apparently Stroman cropped his dog's ears and some Jays fans on Twitter seems to be mildly losing it.

Edit: overstated the backlash initially.

Why would Vlad ever go along with that?

They tell him it's going to be 3 or 4 days, so to be safe they are holding him out 1-2 weeks, which would mean 3 weeks and back into games, which magically it is announced as such lol

Fine for you to say. However, Rogers is running a business. I as a consumer in the demo that they savor, have no issue spending my money to see exciting guys, even with the knowledge that we might lose. However, that chance is not made less by a bunch of boring left overs that I have no desire to see.

If I knew in advance the line-up of the games, no way I buy tickets to see Morales, Travis play s*** D etc.. I will pay to see Tellez hit, Alford, run throw and hit.. Bo, Biggio and ACEucki pitch.

While I am in camp "trade Pillar", this is a really silly argument. The casuals LOVE Pillar, if there are people who buy tickets to see certain players (an idea of which I'm skeptical) more of them are going to pay to see Pillar than Alford. For every person like you who would pay to see the kids play, there are 10 who love Pillar and bring "SUPERMAN!" signs to the Dome for games.

it is what this ownership wants and it is what this puppet Management will do ... Hokey Pokey one foot in One foot out ... half way in and half way out Pick a f***ing lane and Drive in it !!!

They probably are clueless at four way stops

Too !!!

leave the kids in Buffalo and build winners and a winning culture or Jettison all the old into the f***ing Sun and as J.R Foley used to Say ... let the Goodtimes Roll, ED !!!

Let the Goodtimes Roll !!! Hell Yeah

How about this novel idea...Let's go with the 25 players that the FO and management have determined to be the most competitive roster possible on Opening Day? (Well, 24 plus the scrub destined to be jettisoned once Vlad is up)

Young guys, veterans...doesn't matter. No need to pick a f***ing lane.

That's not a rebuilding strategy. Rebuilding is sacrificing wins for development.

I'm in the "trade Pillar" camp and I love Pillar. Kevin plays hard and he has played multiple seasons far less than 100%. Lesser players wouldn't have taken the field the way Pillar did. Kevin has put his body on the line and has made a lot of spectacular plays in the outfield. He's a very good defensive player.

I will grant you this with Pillar... But not Morales and Travis vs Tellez, Bichette, Biggio etc or even Maile vs Reese..

Blair is right!

From Sportsnet:

Still, some Blue Jays pitchers are at least intrigued by pitching to help the shift. Ryan Borucki, who had his best outing of the spring on Sunday (and let’s cut the B.S.: Ryan Borucki needs to be on this Opening Day roster) Said: “As we get deeper into the games mean more, yeah, I might start to be a little more conscious [of] where guys are and pitch to the shift. But right now … we’re just learning a lot of stuff. I haven’t pitched with the shift a lot to this point in my career. Right now I think I just need to pitch my game.”

Bichette has never played in AAA.

Biggio has never played in AAA.

Tellez is a DH with a wRC+ of 93 over 950 PA in AAA.

McGuire was worse in AAA last year than Maile was in the majors, and will benefit more playing every day there than twice a week in the majors.

It's insane to complain that these players aren't breaking camp with the Jays.

I think you are getting confused. We were discussing entertainment value, i,e who you would rather pay, might motivate you to go see a ballgame. I am not saying they should all break camp with the Jays.. However, to that point, we did just fine in September compared to the rest of last year in September with a few of those guys in the line-up.. There was zero regression from what the team was when we had all the veterans, and they (the kids) were a hell of a lot more fun to watch.

I'd be a lot less likely to financially support a team dumb enough to have Tellez, Biggio, and Bichette on the 25-man to start the season. I can't imagine how bad things would get later in the year when the guys who should have been depth are completely overmatched or start getting hurt or and we're watching a team of Ryan Goinses, Eric Sogards, and Jabari Blashes in June.

Speaking of Jabari Blash, his lack of MLB success confounds me.

I'm pretty sure I've owned him in at least one league for like 5 years in a row.

Yea, because our 2018 team with Morales, Travis, Pillar and Maile did so well and without those guys we would be... Well, not worse then we would be with the above mentioned. I realize, Biggio and Bichette have never played AAA. I am not arguing they should break camp. Tellez on the other hand did fine in the majors when given his shot. Reward him until he either proves he can stick or needs to be sent down.

Tellez walked twice and struck out 21 times, which is more informative than what happened to the ~50 balls he put in play.

Dude in his 70 ML ABs he had a .943 OPS and a 154 Ops+

You need to stop looking at OPS in a 75 PA sample, especially when the player had an 11/1 K/BB.

You can just watch Tellez take a few ABs to know that his bat speed is going to get him eaten alive. It will not work, abandon all hope.

or maybe not that informative at all given the sample size.....if you look at July August September and expand the sample size a bit things start to look OK for old Rowdy. Free Rowdy!

His OBP was just over league average. Not super, but not bad. Definetly brought up by his BA more so then walks, however there is nothing showing he didnt belong... He might not have walked a lot, yet, but compensated with hits..

Bro he has a respectable bb/k ratio in the minors, he gets some slack for his first time around in da majors

You sound like me from 10 yrs ago for Randy Ruiz, bro Tellez probably isn't any good, stop justifying random SSS Sept stats.

I understand the contrarian point of view and sticking to your guns, but at some point you’ve gotta realize that your idea can’t be justified.

Huh! That brings back some memories. I had forgotten all about him. I think I recall you making your case back on Scout, now that you mention it.

Maybe you are right.. I will stick to my guns that from a purely fan point of view (entertainment) getting behind your team. I would much rather watch Tellez at this point than Morales..
