It is a metaphor for the fact he was our ACE last year and people on here are trying to argue Gaviglio is better then Borucki, Richards should a ML spot before Borucki, Borucki should start in AAA. There is not benefit to the best pitcher on our staff in 17 starts to start in AAA. No learning curve benefit and does not reward a player for performance, (there is no contractual reasons like Vlad).

 

It would absolutely be a travesty if he does not get one of the 5 spots, just on principal and optics.

 

In no way, shape or form was Borucki the ace of anything.

Gaviglio has outstanding stats pitching in the 1st inning. Pitch count 1-25.....BA .192 ….. OPS .583..... Babip .205 Then it all goes down hill. Pitches 26 - 50 BA 338... OPS .885...Babip .395

Perhaps he would be the ideal candidate as an opener, or reliever.

no one wants to waste the time on such obvious evaluations but I'll do it just cause Monday morning at work is slow. Happ's xFIP in Toronto was a full run lower than Borucki, he had a higher WAR, almost double the K rate and a lower walk rate

I will you credit that you are at least putting forth a substanative argument to make the case. I am in an airport waiting to board on my cell. However, I recall from memory, Happ allowed 10 more HRs in only 3 more starts and something like (14 more innings- just going off memory). Happ had far less QS with only 3 more starts, and Borucki had a better ERA.. I realize ERA many times is a little skewed by your defense and relief pitchers. It is subjective Happ was better as a Blue Jay last year. It is not clear cut. Happ was getting rocked before the trade. Happ gave up too many HRs and doesnt go long in as many games. I want QSs!

No, we all collectively facepalm at you using archaic metrics such as ERA/WHIP/QS, etc... without looking, I'd assume Happ was better across the board in K%, BB%, GB%, FIP, xFIP, SIERA, Batted Ball rates, etc, etc... as Boxy said, you should do better, what Borucki has shown is he's better in Good Luck, he might be a FIP beater moving forward but that will show in a larger sample and he could provide a good RA9-WAR along the lines of his idol Mark Buerhle , I wish him well and hope he continues his success, but the pitcher's skill doesn't show this... I said Good Day!
