Todd Verified Member Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 So Ken Rosenthal on his twitter account is saying the blue jays are close to signing Bryce Harper to a 10 year contract. I'm not sure if this twitter account is real so has any one else had this. Or is it ********. And why would they do this. And the mean the blue jays

TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Fake Kenny's were all the craze in 2016. This one is not well done though https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal11
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I like the "OF" before Bryce Harper. I also like how fake Ken is reporting it and saying "reportedly" like he is reporting someone else's reporting.
Frag Verified Member Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Article on Jansen https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2019/1/17/18186048/danny-jansen-russell-martin-toronto-blue-jays-catcher-projections-fly-ball-power?fbclid=IwAR0dstVyPdtvxXQtuQTqC0HKOvt-RQKN8EjSLxeWt9epjmJkpNre3cksALo This article suggests that while his bat is good, Jansen's framing in the minors was terrible (and Reese McGuire is more likely to stick at the position). We'll see how he is in 2019. Link.

We'll see how he is in 2019. Link. His framing in the minors is near the middle of the pack in AAA and AA. His MLB framing was terrible, which is why he sticks out in the figure so much. Probably a below average framer (sad) but he should trend towards that fit line with a bigger MLB sample right

Also, I wonder whether framing is a skill that can be learned over time.

Chris Ianetta went from like worst to first in framing after focusing and working hard on it over a single offseason.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I know it doesn't really matter, but I wish we'd kept Diaz and got rid of Drury instead. IMO Gurriel is better as a 2B, and Urena and Drury are s***. Meanwhile Diaz can play SS and 3B and has 4 years of control left. I'm willing to give Drury a look this year. Atkins obviously sees something in him. Urena is s*** though - agreed.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Drury is going to have a 2+ WAR this year. Quote me on this later.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Stroman has the innate ability to look like a complete douche even when he is doing something meant to be nice or supportive: https://vancouversun.com/sports/baseball/b-c-tattoo-artist-inks-toronto-skyline-on-blue-jays-pitcher-stroman He is definitely getting traded or DFAd now. Murphys law says, get a Maple Leaf tattoo or something Canada related, buy a house in Toronto or marry a Toronto girl and you will be gone within a year or so.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Heyman: Have heard there is indeed a mystery team in Manny derby, and also recently heard that team had the high bid (impression also was that the surprise team wasnÂ’t necessarily his preferred landing spot but maybe $ will decide Jays?

They dumped Tulo to slightly increase their appeal to Machado! And Diaz. It all makes sense now

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I'm sure Machado would treat the front office and their high performance team with great respect. He seems like that type of player.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 And some cool tats, right? I was kinda sad that the tat wasn't shown. Abdomen tattoos are tricky, it's a really weird spot to get inked.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Oh yeah, worst case scenario is that we go just a week without Aaron Sanchez. Definitely no other scenarios to consider.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I'll take the under #Top5pick
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 If both Stroman and Sanchez are healthy and pitch to their previous forms, then over. If not, then under.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Vote/discuss/retweet. I wouldn't take the over or the under on that if I had to stake some cash on it, so I guess that means 75 sounds about right. That rotation, though. Yeesh, lol. At least we'll get to watch some high scoring games.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 If both Stroman and Sanchez are healthy and pitch to their previous forms, then over. If not, then under. Sanchez has had one good season and been complete trash outside of that. His previous form is the same as his current form. It's like saying you hope Jonathan Villar can play to his previous form.

It's like saying you hope Jonathan Villar can play to his previous form. Agreed. 2014 and 2015 are pretty much the same as his 2017 and 2018 in terms of the pitcher who he was. So I guess we all agree 2016 was a fluke?
