Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Hey all, We are kinda lost for topics for tomorrow. We'd rather put out nothing than something that's s***** and half assed so we turn to you guys: is there anything you want us to discuss? And questions for us? Any requests for me on the recorder? All are welcome to chip in! Except Jim
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 - Sean Reid-Foley's potential to in the bigs, after his latest showing in NY, in comparison to Tercet's rating on him. - Potential Jays standout performances in the AFL - How high do each of you think Pearson could climb next season, if healthy, and if performance lives up to his publication ratings - Who are the Jays most likely to be traded this OS?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Keep up the great work BTW boys!

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Maybe not for this episode, but could be interesting to have a semi-structured segment where you each present the top X free agents you’d like to see the team target in the offseason.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Thanks, buddy and good list Thanks dude and Np. Here's another I just thought of, which could be an interesting qualitative debate, in-line with last ep's Shapiro discussion: - Is there anything Shapiro/Atkins cab improve on/have failed at, this far in their tenure? Perhaps PR stuff.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I haven't listened to all of the podcasts, but a discussion of the pace of play initiatives would be interesting. Have they worked well? What more needs to be done? Thoughts on the minor league initiatives?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Is Alphonso Davies the best teenager in the world? How will his transition to bayern go? Will he continue to play for team Canada? Should Canada take on more athletic looking refugees?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Thank you, old friend. Valuable points.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Number 1 (or top 3) legitimate trade target for the Jays from each member. By legitimate I mean ones we could actually do during a re-tooling time.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I enjoy the podcasts (I have listened to two so far). However, I think you guys are all of the exact same philosophy and are 100% analytics cult;) My contention is that while analytics and sabremetrics is very valuable, there are some old school intangibles/process that are not well measured, or measured three different ways by the main three.. (in other words, there is not even consensus among the big three on how to interpret some stats). I think it would be cool and most importantly entertaining if you had a raucous debate, old school vs new school vs mix etc. Basically a Ben Revere thread turned into a podcast. While some might have thought other posters were smoking crack, I think the group consensus was it is an entertaining thread.. You would probably have to have a guest on to debate the other side... Use current players or examples Blue Jays fans are familiar with either past players or minors so that it is relevant to off-season, our minors, building a winning team. Differences in AA vs Shatkins etc. When I have more time, I was going to make a chart of what players we have due to AA drafting or a player AA drafted/traded that we could used as currency for a current player vs Players acquired solely from the new regime. Examples: Pannone from Joe Smith = 100% credit Shatkins Danny Jansen= 100% AA Reese McGuire was from Drew Hutchison, which was AA currency but turned into Reese by Shatkins. Vlad, 110%% AA, and I don't think Shatkins could have got him to sign with the Jays. I think/thought it would be interesting to see what part of next years potential roster is from which regime (if someone didn't already do it?) Mi dos pesos..

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 A peso is worth more than a cent, you racist
bendera3 Verified Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 You guys could talk about your all time favorite Jays and why you liked them. Maybe a prospect that you thought could make it but failed (like Eddie Zosky), or a prospect that you thought was crap and turned out to be a pretty good asset to the org.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) A peso is worth more than a cent, you racist My input was worth more. Of course you knew the FX, since all Asians are really good at math. Edited September 18, 2018 by Carlos Danger

I wouldn't say those above are 100% AA necessarily just because he drafted. You need allocate a % to Shatkins for their extensive changes to player development.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 How about a discussion on $120k a year offer from the LA Dodgers to work in their head office vs. $225k from Apple?

KevinGregg Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 How about a discussion on $120k a year offer from the LA Dodgers to work in their head office vs. $225k from Apple? Who got these offers, you? It depends how much you really need the money. Give me the job with the Dodgers every day of the week
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Sounds oddly specific. Can you elaborate? He will be listening to the Podcast. It is a former member the BJMB universe. Offered $125k job as a Senior Analyst with the LA Dodgers in the same week he was offered a job in Cupertino with Apple. No life details needed. Tell how he made a terrible decision!
