I'm hoping Shapiro is here long enough for the team to become a contender, so Ross Atkins builds enough clout to take over as president should Shapiro decide to leave.

I really hope ownership is committed to seeing Shapiro's vision through. It sounds like they are but the team has sucked two years in a row and is going to suck for the next two as well. With our dumbass casual fanbase starting to bark already I hope Shapiro is given enough rope. The struggles right now are AA's fault not Shapiro's.

Shapiro was an Ed Rogers hire so as bad as Ed is, he probably wants to keep Shapiro around. It is Shapiro that may want out (based on the rumors) but hopefully his quote is genuine and he sticks around for a while.

I think Rogers will let the team have one more bad season, but then put pressure on Shatkins to win in 2020. That seems like a Rogers thing to do.

They would be wise to interview Matheny, Schneider, Hale and probably Wedge for his ties with Shatkins.

Then, they should fire these two ass hats and hire the right person to replace the bench boss.

So you want to fire Shatkins and hire Matheney? Ok

Gibby for level of excellence. plz.

Cito is up there, so there's no argument to be made against putting Gibby up there.

Cito "won" two world series. That's gonna be the argument if he's not there.

I'm so happy about this. Great decision by the management. Goodbye Gibbons!

Chances are this is Gibbons' decision, and in no way should anyone be happy about this.

Who would you like to see as the manager in 2019? Does anyone have a list of candidates you would like to see and who you absolutely don't want to see as the next manager for your Toronto Blue Jays.

Schneider being up with the big club is a good sign that they are giving him a legit look. Unless this is something that happens every year and we just never hear about it.

It is common, the AAA manager is there as well.

However, on the same theme, I have been thinking about it a lot. I am 100% in the camp that we should give Schiender a shot. I dont want some ML re-tread.

The core we have now and have coming, I believe there would be excellent symetry.

Schnieder also seems like a guy who is all about winning, and motivates well toward that goal.

Lastly, theYankees and Red Sox went with younger guys without MLB managerial experience and it appears to be working out well.

Yeah I just like that he's got a university education and is young, fat, and lovable.

While I agree that Schneider would be a decent option, your reasoning needs work, aside from the symmetry. I think most will think you meant to say chemistry, but symmetry in social/professional interaction is a thing, and probably very important in MLB. I think Gibby has excellent symmetry with the players, for the most part.

The Sox and Yankees have all star team rosters, they could put you or I in as a manager and still be amazing, so that's not really a point.

I think the thing that plays in Schneider favour is that he's been with the Jays his entire playing and coaching career, and obviously they value him highly or he wouldn't have been promoted to the next level pretty much every year since he started managing. There's clearly something he has and they see in him that meshes well with what they want in a big league manager.

It might just be the perfect time for him to take over if the Jays think he is ready

Stubby Clapp is managing the Surprise in the AFL... hmmm...

So...does he not want to manage here? I'm confused. It doesn't sound like Atkins wanted him to go. He seemed to not be willing to go through a "rebuild". I had just assumed he wanted to go home to Texas but he wants to keep managing?

What is going on?!

Maybe Gibby is going to be Banisters replacement.
