Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Shapiro getting destroyed on twitter, haven't seen hate like this in a long time. As expected. People already don't like the Shatkins, and this Donaldson thing is playing out worse than anyone could have ever expected. Once the return is announced, and it's a marginal prospect, Twitter will hit another level.

This is the jays fan base remember 4 years ago before the jays grew nobody cared. Now that we have to rebuild again every dumb hockey fan is an expert
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Feels like we’ve seen him play like twice in 2 years, but this is still going to take a minute to adjust to. We’ll always have 2015! #mvp
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Woops. How does this get 59 likes? They aren't even the worst managed team in their division. and The Browns have won like 2 games in the past 3 NFL seasons. Like, 28 current NHL front offices are absolutely terrible. hockey crowd.

Maybe people should introduce them to Mark bergevin in montreal... he would win the honours hands down....though pierre dorion will put up a strong challenge
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 If this return isn't obviously better than the compensatory pick then I'm not going to be pleased. Despite what reporters have to say, teams will be willing to pay a real prospect in order to have an MVP calibre player on their postseason roster. It was just up to our FO to get the right guys.

If Donaldson was guaranteed to be an MVP calibre player then sure.

I think so too, and it seems like enough contending teams with good farms were poking around, should land something fairly interesting.
King Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Granderson traded as per Davidi.

The 70 to 100 draft pick is valued under the $3.9M saved so unless the Jays are kicking in money I suspect you will not be pleased.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 I had no idea Cleveland is coming to Toronto next week.. FML.. That is going to be hard to stomach..
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Granderson traded as per Davidi. Excellent, now let's hear Clippard and if we get a Miracle- Morales;)

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Man it sucks JD ended like this with the Jays. So many great memories from JD!. Rooting for Cleveland. Cannot blame the Jays for getting a least something for him.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Granderson is going to the Brewers

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect much. He’s not even ready to suit up yet so the Indians are not only getting a player with health question marks but for less than a month as well.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 There were issues between him and management.

They also get him for the playoffs, that's a pretty big deal

I'm not usually very critical of the FO, but they handled this situation very poorly. They upset Donaldson for whatever reason and let that go public. Then they lose leverage by making it seem like we were desperate and not going to offer the QO. Teams are always lining up to get to get this calibre of player for the postseason and the return could have been fairly significant had they handled this correctly.

They upset Donaldson by telling him that a 2 or 3 year extension is all they would discuss....Donaldson upset them by telling how to do their job and faked a f***ing injury so they couldn't trade him for top value. Same as he did to Beane. There is zero leverage here. No one claimed him, Yankees wouldn't deal unless the Jays threw in 100% of the salary. I bet he kills it for Cleveland as he wasn't really hurt. I am liking the $20 I put on them last month now.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 I can't really see JD faking an injury and costing him up to 100 million dollars just to say "f*** you" to the Jays FO
