Pat was merely judging his arm strength by looking at the size of his forearms.

I just went and saw that SRF had 12 swinging strikes on 97 pitches. The MLB average SwStr% is 10.6%, 10.1% for starters. For reference Royals hitters swing and miss at an 11.2 percent rate.
