Really back on Alford again. I'm trying to stay away from that. Because

it piss a lot of people off then I do. But this is his five full year as a player. He spends

more time hurt then he does playing. And NO improvement at all. He does not hit for average,

has not show any real power, his base stealing sucks. Actually this year his numbers are lower then ever. But he's the jays 3 top prospect.

Other prospects have drop but he has not. If anything he should be 35th.

I love your arbitrary rankings.

If he's now 35th, then you admit your lists are a huge failure, right? That's a massive jump from 106th after such a horrible season.

Step 1: take Hagen Danner and make him a pitcher...

Why, because his whopping 125 at bats in his first taste of pro ball after splitting time in HS means he'll never-ever hit? Some of you really don't understand anything about player development. Justin Woodell saw him in extended and noted that he looked MUCH better at the plate than his look in the GCL last year. He also threw a runner out last night.

"He also threw a runner out last night"

For that reason he should be a pitcher

Yes, convert every catcher with a strong arm to pitcher.

Can someone find a list of all productive MLB players who posted a wRC+ under 50 in the GCL or AZL?

GCL, since 2006:

Niko Goodrum in 2010

Didi Gregorius in 2008

Christian Vazquez in 2008

AZL, since 2006:

Andy Yerzy(???) in 2016

Leury Garcia in 2008

Marwin Gonzalez in 2006

Minimum 50 PA was the cut-off I used.

That's it.

Even if Danner doesn't ultimately hit. His transition back to the mound shouldn't be all that difficult. And he was touted even more highly as a pitcher.

0-5 on the season.

Oh, no. Career ender for sure LMAO.

His career sample is a few games greater than Randall Grichuk's ~.100 start to this season. Put that into perspective for a second. I'm not telling you that he'll hit, but to write some kid off after less than 50 games is absurd, especially a HS catcher, and a HS catcher who was pitching on top of hitting to boot. He also only has 1 strikeout in 6 at-bats to date, which doesn't mean s*** yet, but he was striking out at nearly a ~30% clip last season.

Interesting Vlog here from Jordyn Adams on draft day. At ~7:25 they show our pick at #12, and his entire family gets really anxious as if they are anticipating us to pick him. Its even funnier as Jordyn Adams and Jordan Groshans both have the same first name, so hearing "Toronto selects Jordan..." obviously gets them even more excited. We had been mentioned to be in on Jordyn Adams, and to me this really signals that we may have given him seriously strong consideration, to the point that his representation obviously believed that we might take him at #12.

Hey guys, what mark (A, A-, F, etc.) do you give he Jays FO for this year's draft and why? I follow the AA and AAA farm teams quite a bit, but have barely a clue about any of the really young guys drafted this year. Please share your thoughts.

B?

The Groshans + Kloffenstein package seems nice, but it's impossible to say yet whether Liberatore + whoever would have been a better direction. Or even Winn or Gorman + whoever.

Conine seems like a relatively risk/reward college guy. He might K 40% of the time, or have a .300 ISO in the minors... or both! Barger seems like a nice get and he kind of solidified the grading as a solid B for me.

I like some of the crafty old guys they signed like Murray and Podkul. I don't know what to make of Wymer.

What else is notable about the draft? Is anyone in the $125k range worth getting excited about at all?

Yes. But they won't sign.

Bec signed for $5,000.

We actually have a bit more money to go overslot somewhere. Enough to sign that reliever from North Carolina if he's smart.

The @BlueJays have spent $8,309,300 in the first 10 rds vs a pool of $7,982,100. They are 4.1% over, which means they only pay a penalty tax. They have an extra $71,905 to play with for picks after the 10th rd (where the first $125k on each guy doesn't count vs pool). @MLBDraft
