SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 My wife and I are heading to NYC in mid-September, and we're going to try and catch 2-3 Jays games. Buying tix off the MLB site seems the surest bet, but are there other ways to buy tickets and perhaps get better tickets for a better price? Any things to do around Yankee Stadium (great restaurants, clubs, anything) within a stone's throw? Where would you recommend we buy tickets? Any tips are welcome, even the sarcastic kind.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 September, lulz... use stubhub. Although everything's great in NYC, you're a short subway ride from the stadium.
leaffie Verified Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I have used stubhub for tickets for concerts, ballgames, etc. Never had a moment of trouble. most times you have better seat selection than anywhere else I always make sure I can print tickets myself. Have fun

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 The stadium tour was pretty cool. It's really popular though, so if you want to do it - call now and book a spot. I wasn't impressed with the area around the stadium (or NYC In general).

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 It'll be my first time in NYC, so I am sure I will be blown away no matter what. The Jays aren't a big draw in NY are they? BTW, I feel most of you live in TO. TO is amazing. I love the downtown and the area around Rogers. We went to Second City after a game (it's like .25 blocks away) and I was the only one wearing Jays gear. And of course I was called up on stage to a packed house to take part in a 10-minute skit. I try to hit TO every 2-3 years for a game and have since 1990.

I've been to NYC twice (first time the ball game got rained out!) and it really just wasn't for me. I mean the Manhattan area was fine and we did enjoy a few broadway shows, but overall I wasn't impressed. My wife basically got attacked by some crazy black lady on the subway in the Bronx. That was fun. Everything smells like piss on the streets. Seems to take forever to get anywhere and when you do, there are massive lines. I don't know. Maybe it's just a little too big for me. Our first time in NYC came on the heels of visiting Boston and we enjoyed Boston significantly more. I've since been to Chicago and again - I enjoyed it WAY more.

My family took a Great Canadian Tour down there, the last year old Yankee Stadium was around. It was an awesome trip. We went to Rockefeller Centre, Times Square, and got a full tour of Lower Manhattan. We went to the World Trade Centre site as well. Hearing the guide tell the story of that day, from a local perspective, was surreal. Just sitting there and looking where the Towers sat, and remembering that day, will stay with me forever. Its incredible, that Tuesday was a local election day, and also the first day of school. There were A LOT of people that were very fortunate, to not be there when it happened. I know someone from Stratford, who worked in them.....He slept in that day, and was late for work, and it probably saved his life.

We almost booked a flight in on September 11th, because the prices were so cheap (surprise). But we opted for Sept 12. We will definitely hit the 9/11 Memorial site while there. I'm hoping to hit all three Jays game, we may do cheapees ($15 for a nosebleed) for a couple and go all out for one of the three games, 3rd base line or something.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 The last time we watched the Jays play in NY (a couple of years ago) was right before the Yankees had an official agreement with StubHub ... and since we didn't want to bother finding a way to print tickets ... we just bought from the MLB site and got pretty nice seats for the 3 game series behind 1b, behind 3b, and in the right field short porch. With greater excitement around the Bombers these days, there's probably less quality availability at the box office now. We love visiting NYC but we don't spend our time in the Bronx other than being at the games ... and the Stadium is easy to get to from anywhere by the subway.

I would try tickpick. Its the same concept but there aren't any fees for the buyer. I've found it to be less expensive for the most part, GL

I like that all the fees are listed in the main buying page. And you're right, I've ended up paying less than stubhub when looking at my credit card statements.
