Can BP give up on Jorge Alfaro already? Jorge Alfaro is not gonna happen. Ranking him above Triston McKenzie, Willie Calhoun, Luis Robert... that's just silly.

It's time to move Minor League Ball (John Sickels) above BP on the hierarchy of prospect publications.

Like, BP is a subscription service lmao. Some actual in-person scouting would be appreciated.

All the good guys who worked for BP left to work for front offices.

Bo getting a 50 hit tool and 70 raw power seems uh...interesting. I wonder if they accidentally reported those switched up, you'd think the guy with the career ~.380 batting average as a professional would have a much higher hit tool.

Jesus Luzardo at 70 is pretty aggressive. He likely climbs this year anyway so I guess they're just jumping the gun.

He was ranked #60 by Callis and Mayo. I have no issue with him making the back half of a few lists at this point.

List updated with BP and FanGraphs. You're welcome.

Suggestion, you should put Razzball or 2080 on the list in place of MILB.com.

Edit: Is that Minor League Ball? I think it is, nevermind then.:P

2080 doesn't publish a list. They did one in 2016 and have since seemingly given up. They only did 19 of their org reports last year before stopping. I actually had them on the 2018 sheet until a couple of days ago when I discovered I had to remove them.

As for Razzball, very few here like Razzball, unfortunately. I don't want to discredit the entire project. Sorry.

When I removed Sickels from the list last year, it caused a mini uproar among the readers here. But I am for the people. If the majority wants a change, then I'll do my best to accommodate them.

With that said, does anyone else have any thoughts?

Edit: I see you edited your post. Disregard the stuff that should be disregarded in this post, then.

I get it, but I'm with you on Lifchitz and company... 2080 are dumb, they have great content, surprised they bailed so quickly.:(

2080 are still doing draft stuff, from the looks of things - mostly videos and some rankings, a few scouting reports. Other than that, their MiLB and MLB coverage seems to be pretty scarce. They just went six weeks between articles.

Noticed that.

I've got an idea to float past you about other lists you may or may not want to include. Super busy day but I'll try and PM you some time today.

Whenever you get a chance, I'm interested in what you have to say.

Stat-Scouting Garbage Tool KATOH Top 100, come and get em!

https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-top-100-katoh-prospects/

Lols:

Carson f***ing Kelly @ 2

Zack Granite @ 6

Trent Grisham (who?) @ 9

Vlad @ 15

Senzel @ 24

Honeywell @ 36

Gohara @ 68

No Sixto

No Calhoun

This might be the worst prospect Top 100 I've ever seen. Utter trash.

ryangf22: Any specific reason for the Vlad Jr. drop? I believe KATOH was quite a bit higher on him last year, no?

Chris Mitchell: Yeah, he was #3 at mid-season. The biggest thing is that the new version isn’t as obsessed with contact for lower-level guys, which was driving Vlad’s projection. Still loves him for all of the same reasons, just a bit less.

cmarts cups: Thanks for doing this and answering questions, almost like a mini-chat. I dig it. Can you speak to what Katoh is seeing with Carson Kelly to project him as the #2 prospect in baseball with a service time production projection just below Acuna?

Chris Mitchell: He’s a good defensive catcher who hit well as a 22yo in AA. There isn’t any one thing that stands out about his profile, but he hit quite well in AAA last year. He made elite contact, drew walks and hit for more power than ever before. I feel like the power went somewhat unnoticed due to his only playing 68 games, but he really broke out in that area. The offensive bar for good defensive catchers is really low, so his being a good hitter at such a young age is encouraging.

On Kelly and Vlad being ranked the way they were

I just realized Brendan Rodgers also didn't make KATOH's Top 100. lol
