Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 We getting f*** all in return for Donaldson. 2 years ago a nice haul but now not so!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Or we could look at the potential upside of bringing him back much cheaper than anticipated as well. They absolutely missed the window to trade him.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I would rather re-sign him than trade him at this point. Donaldson is going to the Braves.. I have said it for months.. Book it!!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Jaime Garcia on the DL with shoulder inflammation.. Another one bites the dust..
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Jaime Garcia on the DL with shoulder inflammation.. Another one bites the dust.. free Sean Reid Foley

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 i was right again would have got a nice return for Josh in the offseason after his 2017 2nd half

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 It would have been great to get something from Donaldson...at this point thought if you can't get a good return, try and resign him for as cheap as possible.

TBJ12 Verified Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 We'll re-sign him for 5/125M and he'll be Rolen/Beltre for the next 5 years and give us surplus while the kids are the main engine for the team. Got no one else to pay in the meantime, might as well keep him. I dont see JD topping Martinez 5/110.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 JD’s body is already falling apart. He will be 33 next year. He was awesome for this team but unless he signs a really short term deal, it’s time to move on after this season. I also don’t think the offers in the winter were any good for him. Teams are holding on to prospects with a vice grip nowadays. I doubt any team was offering enough for one year of Donaldson at age 32.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Holy s*** Jim, you’re literally the worst It should have been apparent this team with too many old players and too many holes was not going to contend with the Yanks, BoSox, 'Stros of the world
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Wasn't it like Sandy Alcantra + the rumoured offer before he got dealt to the Marlins?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Author Posted May 19, 2018 If Jim had his way we’d be watching a team of scrubs lose 100 games in an empty stadium for the next 4-5 years while Vlad’s first few seasons were completely wasted. Instead we’re watching a team that’s 3.5 games out of a wildcard with over 100 games left, that’s had multiple prospects play already, has Vlad ready to step up (closely followed by Bo), and has a ton of payroll space opening up the next 2 seasons to compliment the team. I’ve always thought playoffs are a bonus this year, it’s more important to have some prospects establish themselves. TLDR: Jim is a tool.

The only thing I've said is JD and his expiring contract should have been traded in the offseason. Certainly not alone in that sentiment. I've also said he could be resigned a year later if the price is right. No need to insult just because you disagree. Edited May 19, 2018 by Jimcanuck

But people on this board don't want to hear or believe that so you should probably stop trying to convince them. Maybe they'll come around eventually.
