Its two years of Stroman right?

 

Right now yes, but xposbrad wants to hold on to Stroman and trade him during the season, which is what I was responding to.

 

Someone mentioned before and I agree completely with it; true contenders don’t view Stroman as a difference maker. It’s the teams like the Padres and Reds (bad teams looking to improve) that will offer more. These teams won’t be buyers in July. Now might be the time.

Cal Quantrill, Logan Allen, and Brad Wieck would be kind of an interesting return imo. Both Quantrill and Allen are also probably 1/2 year from the majors, so it fits the timeline really well. Wieck can step into the pen directly.

I would prefer Luis Patino over Baez.

 

Something like Patino, Allen and Gabriel Arias would be a very nice return for Stroman.

Too light IMO. There are a lot of Quantrills in a lot of organizations. Not a ton of velo and no breaking ball. Rather have a position player or a higher ceiling SP prospect. Wieck could be good but it's easy to find relievers.

 

It’s a 60 FB and a 70+ CH. there are decidedly NOT a lot of those guys.

I'm a lot higher on Quantrill than a lot of people, but I think he'll settle in as a solid #3 starter. I feel like his excellent change and tight but not big breaking slider will play up more in the majors with better game calling and scouting reports, and he appears to have the command to take advantage of them.

Trade talks may start here and expand to other players. For instance the Jays also have Giles and Smoak. Not sure of what San Diego needs but we have several pieces we can move that may make the Padres consider higher level prospects. Also, these 2 are cheap. So if they are going for it then perhaps they look at other players.

 

Could you get 2 of their top 3 prospects if you included Giles or Smoak along with Stroman?
