I’m wondering the same. I know his gf is vegan but I’ve never seen anything about him giving up meat.

It's almost like eating entirely plant-based foods is, like, really, really bad for the human body and causes it to break down where it should be able to recover itself and heal common injuries.

Everything you've been taught about nutrition is wrong. Fruits and vegetables are only useful as cleansers; they provide next to zero nutrition as the majority of "vitamins" present are indigestible. Plants are also loaded with anti-nutrients and other chemicals that are produced to cause harm to your biology (like any living thing they don't want to be eaten). The human digestive system looks nothing like anything seen in nature that processes plant matter. He is right... 1000 yrs of evolution with the majority being paleo diet.. Only recently (in mankind) have human bodies switched to the currently "recommended" diet.

 

The food pyramids etc, as recommended by the Govt, were created with lots of lobbying from different sectors that could benefit or be negatively affected. If the pyramid say more dairy, good for dairy farmers, less grain, bad for wheat farmers.. Whomever had the most pull and better lobbyists were able to get more in the Pyramid.

I don't disagree with some of your overall premise, but you are so misinformed that it's rather comical.

 

Plants don't produce fruits with 'anti nutrients' so that nothing will eat them. Most fruits in your supermarket are produced for the sole purpose of being eaten. That's how their seeds are spread.

 

Cells are also not produced solely from cholesterol. They are produced from a combination of amino acids (proteins), lipids, and carbohydrates (!!!), among other things. While important, the main function of cholesterols is to convey materials through the cell membrane. 'Bad' cholesterols are given that name because they are not useful for that purpose and can be harmful.

 

Also, one look at your teeth should make it rather obvious that we have evolved to consume both plant and animal materials. It's a trait found in all omnivores.

Shatkins fail. Everyone knew he had to go last deadline. A legit top 50 prospect for him would have sure looked good now.

 

What if the best offer on the table wasn't that good? Look at Machado - shopped but not traded in the offseason, then rebuilds his value and is traded midseason. JD was still elite when he was fit last year, but you're forgetting that he missed a third of the season and had question marks about his future health (though of course no one was expecting him to turn into Tulo). It's not like Shatkins has said they turned down good offers, or even that there were rumours of offers.

I doubt Flaherty was on the table for JD. Maybe Alcantara, but the Cardinals seemed pretty adament about not trading six years of control for one.

 

That FG writer who suggested JD for Carpenter and Gyorko was pretty bang on in hindsight. We wouldn’t have traded for Solarte in that scenario, and Carp has been a beast this year. I hated that idea at the time (wanted prospects for JD) but would have worked better for the Jays. Could have traded Carp for a good haul.

Unless we exclusively eat wild animals that you've hunted yourself, it's impossible to eat "natural" meat going by your logic. Using selective breeding of crops as a reason why "biologically" you shouldn't eat plants is absurd - unless you are also excluding cows, pigs and sheep.

I have to agree with Grant, this is f***ing funny. How brainwashed could you possibly be to think our digestive system is designed for meat, lmfao. I'll break some of it down for you.

 

- carnivores have jaws that are designed for shearing with no lateral movement. Humans have jaws that move laterally. Why? This design is for grinding up plant matter.

 

- Carnivores have sharp teeth designed to tear meat. Most human teeth are fairly flat, again to grind up plant matter.

 

- carnivores have very short intestinal tracts. This is to avoid the possibility of food rotting in their guts. Herbivores have long digestive tracts with the purpose of extracting as much sustenance from fruits and leaves as possible. Guess which one humans possess? This is also a big reason why a lot of red meat can cause cancer. We aren't designed to eat it and it can rot in the intestines, causing cell degradation.

 

- carnivore saliva is very acidic. Human saliva is alkaline.

 

Everything about us screams herbivore. However, I agree with Joe Rogan's take that eating meat is what got us to our current state of being. Omnivores in nature (bears, raccoons, lizards) actually share most traits with carnivores.

I've started keto, I'm on day 5 of a 14 day thing and I'm doing great so far.

 

I'm not sure if I'll do it 100% of the time, but switching to the 14 day program whenever I want to is certainly doable. I had already cut down s***** processed carbs, (ie grains, white rice, breads) and gone to more nuts and greens. I don't think we need to eat meat at every one of the typical 3 meals per day.

Are you sure? Everything I've read tells me saliva is generally acidic, and our entire digestive tract sits between 5 and 7 ph, which is acidic. Not massively acidic like a true carnivore, but on the acidic side of the spectrum.
