Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Seems like a sure thing that Gibby and most of his staff are axed in the offseason if not some point this season. I hope they are looking to buy more pitching but not dumpster dive for guys like Chatwood and Garcia again. They can do the same stuff for the bullpen with reclaimation projects and give some of the arms we have in the system a shot to go along with Tepera, Barnes, Biagini and Giles. Some moves have to happen to remove the log jam in the infield which probably leaves Solarte out either in trade or decline the option. That's about it and run with the prospects when needed.

I haven't seen any indication they'd be looking to axe Gibby. They've had their chance to do that multiple times and chose to stick with him. I can't imagine they expected him to succeed with this roster.

Him and Barker (the 2 most insightful guys in baseball) were suggesting Gibby and his staff will be gone - even indicating that Gibby's suggested he knows he won't be back. They thought there's a chance that Gibby is fired before the season is out and Hale takes over as interim manager.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Gibby leaves in the offseason.

I think the majority will agree with you plus will want Gibby to stay, but Wedge was brought in by the current front office and has experience so seems the obvious choice for them to make if an interim guy was needed.

Gibbons has nothing to do with the clubs lack of success. This team doesn't have a performance issue it has a talent issue. I get annoyed at Gibbons bullpen usage at times but he also heads into most games with 3 or 4 relievers unavailable. I actually feel the Jays haven't used the shuttle to Buffalo enough this season. And some of these pitchers need to be DFA'd or punted to the moon quicker.

I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him be let go in the offseason, but I would be disappointed. TBF I thought one of the first things Shatkins would do is hire their own man.

Gibbons really has the perfect temperament for Baseball players today. And he absolutely knows what hes doing.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 I always say that a Manager in baseball maybe wins/loses you 3 games and that having a manager that players want to play for is more important in this sport then lets say football or basketball and hockey where there is different ways to run your offense or defense. I could completely out of touch on this but that is firmly my belief.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 with Tulo's corpse still being paid 20 million I lol’d for like 5 minutes
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Blue Jays still have not named a starter for tomorrow. You would think with SRF pitching today for the Biston he would have lined up perfectly to start a Thursday night game in Seattle. Obviously that didn't happen and SRF pitched decently for the Bisons.

Spoonovic Verified Member Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 So, Tulo, JD, Martin and Morales are being mentors. Thanks a lot of expensive mentoring! Will Tulo every play again? Is he working out? Why was JD moved to the 60? Moving Josh Donaldson to the 60 day DL is not significant as he already has missed 60 days. Hes still expected to return in mid to late August.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Hutchison opted out of his deal with the Dodgers, I suggest we bring him back and he wants to prove himself in the majors, win-win.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Clippard is our starting pitcher tonight vs King Felix. I hope he actually does well for once and we can trade him lickity split!

Yea I was thinking hes a fit here as well. We could offer him a starting 5 spot right away and he probably would be decent. At least better than some of our other options.

I remember meeting AA at a party and he asked everyone who they thought his favourite prospect was in the Jays system. Drew Hutchinson was my answer. The correct answer was Aaron Sanchez. That night I gave away a David Cooper signed baseball as my secret santa gift. Nobody recognized the autograph, nor found my gift to be funny, but someone brought samosas, so it was a good time.

I could see him sitting their making everyone answer his lame guessing game while sipping on some wine and stuffing his face with snacks. He of course wore a sweater the whole time. On Monday he told everyone at the office that he partied over the weekend.
