For good reason.

Bryce Harper is a selfish player? The same guy who said that the ultimate measure of any player is how many world series rings they have?

Oh yeah, that guy doesn't sound team focused at all.

So I'm heading on a baseball/golf trip with 3 friends in July. We're going to visit Washington, Baltimore and Philly. The ball games are as follows:

July 21 - ATL @ WAS

July 23 - BOS @ BALT

July 24 - LA @ PHI

We'll be squeezing in 3 rounds of golf along the way too. We're pretty pumped about the match ups as the likes of ATL and PHI got good sooner than we expected.

I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations on:

- Places to sit in each stadium (or where not to sit)

- Places to eat in each City

- Things to do in each City

- Golf recommendations

And any other tips that might help us out.

Interested in responses for Washington. I'll be there for work in September and am going to catch a game.

I'll give you my full run down upon return. I think we'll be in Washington for a couple of days. I'm really excited.

Looking forward to reading your experience. I'm there for 5 days and have never been before, so I want to make the most of it.

Miguel Cabrera has a ruptured biceps tendon and will miss the rest of the season.

Damn. It's sad, but he looks finished.

Chronic back issues, the hamstring, and now this biceps tendon thing all in the past year. Seems like age is catching up to Miggy in a big and sudden way. It's a shame - he was one of the best hitters of our generation, but I guess all good things must inevitably come to an end.

He actually rebounded and was hitting good this year. wRC+ of 128. Not classic Miggy, but still very good.

Back issues, the hamstring and now biceps tendon all within the past 12 months. It’s a shame, but all good things must eventually come to an end.

He's not gonna retire with 150M left on his contract. The rest of the year off might actually do him some good, and help the back issue heal more.

One thing I've always wondered about but is so hard to find answers on is if there is insurance on player's contracts. If Cabrera is going to be hurt all the time maybe the Tigers will get a portion of that back.

Wonder the same with Tulo this year.

Or how it works when a player is traded. Could the team that signed the contract keep the insurance contract as part of the deal somehow? Maybe the Rockies are collecting on Tulo lol.

The Troutian one hath homered again. Give him 22 and a 200 wRC+.

Another one. Four in his last two games and now 23 on the season.

I love owning Michael Trout.

Things to do in DC:

All the main museums are free.

It’s worth a day on its own walking from one end of the National Mall to the other - you have the Lincoln Memorial at one end and the capitol building, senate and national library at the other, with museums on either side as you walk, and the Washington Monument. The Air and Space and the Natural History museums are probably the best two. A random decent one is the Postal Museum - an interesting history, a Unabomber exhibit, and lots of rare stamps.

Not that far away (walkable) are the White House, Iwo Jima monument, and the Jefferson monument, all must see.

Arlington Cemetery (the military cemetery) - over the river (get the subway there). Very moving, thousands of graves including some presidents (e.g. JFK), and a few monuments like the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Seeing the Nationals - if it’s an evening game check the subway times, annoyingly some of the lines shut early so you can get stranded if you’re staying on the other side of the city. The stadium is great, you’ll have a good view wherever you sit.

Mike Trout has been traded TWICE in LoD. That blows my mind.

Poor Org.

Through Miggy and Verlander they had a sustained run of four straight division titles, and two world series appearances. They didn't win one, but we gave up a lot more for a lot less than they have.

While true, he was referring to forum poster Orgfiller.

Thanks man. I actually went on a high school trip to Washington and I think that's pretty much exactly what we toured when we were there (I saw the Dalai Lama in Arlington Cemetery - well, we saw his limo as he was touring through). As a high school kid I really enjoyed all the museums and places to see - but I suspect I'll have a whole new appreciation for it this time.

I live in Philly. What types of food are you looking for? Big beer guy? What do you enjoy doing (types of museums, etc)?

Awesome. I'm pretty open man. We love our beer, we love a good burger place, we love a good steakhouse, we love a great Indian/Thai place. Basically looking for non-chain restaurants that make kick ass food. I ran into some Philly guys at spring training and they recommended the Havre de Grace area for golf between Philly and Baltimore (I think I looked up Bulle Rock Golf Course).

We probably don't have a lot of spare time in Philly, but if there's a couple must sees - then hit me with it and we'll see if we can squeeze it in.
