I generally don't agree with law on much, but....yeah. Selig decidedly should not be in the hall of fame.

He exactly fits the Hall of Fame standards...he did a lot of really good things for his friends. That's why I refuse to rip Manfred he at least seems to be thinking about MLB.

May as well change the H to mean Hypocrisy rather than Hall. Selig is far more of a degenerate than Pete Rose or anyone who did steroids.

Nelson Cruz to the Twins: 1-yr/$14.3M + option.

The Twins’ moves so far have been craftily good. Short term and low risk additions.

Whose Dan Clark

Damn, kinda wanted someone in the running for Harper to take Machado.

Also, lol @ the Yankees posturing after the WS.

Some Oriole beat writer, doubling down on it on his tweets, like it's indeed done.

Lucroy signs for 1 year 3 mil with the Angels. Crazy to see how far he's fallen off. Still, huge upgrade for the Angels who were projected to start... Kevan Smith and Jose Briceno at catcher.

I wonder who the Jays end up trading Martin to. I would assume he’s the guy they move for his sake but the list of suitors is dropping.

Not sure he will be moved, Jays may value him as a mentor for Jansen, and super util guy?

Kikuchi only has until January 2nd to sign, so we'll have some news there within the next three days.

It’s really weird how quiet the Kikuchi front has been.

Press conference at 9:30?

Kikuchi is going to the West coast or New York.

Always the safest bets with Japanese players, especially when it’s not blind bids anymore.

Kikuchi is a Boras client. He's almost certainly going to whoever offers the most money.

The Angels is my guess.

Angels signing kichuki and kuechel would make them a very good team.

However, they already have $20 million a year tied up with just Harvey and Cahill, you think they add another $30-$40 Million a year? on top of their existing commitments?

The Jays will be big players for Kikuchi's services. That's not to say that I believe they'll sign him, but it won't be because they didn't try.

Is just your belief or do you have some factual evidence behind this. lol

Just my own opinion, but they seem very interested:

I'm also taking into consideration the recent comments from Shapiro that Atkins is free to match last season's payroll if he decides to, though he indicated it's likely to be down at least a little bit. Currently, payroll sits roughly $30M from last season's:

Since the Jays are reportedly planning to start a push in 2020 and beyond, Kikuchi fits their competitive timeline being that he's likely to sign a multi-year contract and still only 27.

Sorry if my original post was misleading. I don't have any confirming sources or anything.

No you are a reputable source on this board i guess i am just lazy and missed that, I would be shocked if he went to someplace that is off the west coast.

I'm with you bro, Jays got this, I remember tweeting that.

Yusei Kikuchi, LHP (original prediction: six years, $42MM): As a free agent from Japan, the 27-year-old Kikuchi is the only player on this list with no major league track record. Further, unlike other free agents, there’s a deadline for Kikuchi to sign. Kikuchi’s Japanese team, the Seibu Lions, posted him Dec. 4, giving him and Boras until Jan. 2 to hammer out a deal with a major league club. Assuming Kikuchi does sign, there’s optimism he’ll become the latest big league success story from his homeland. In the meantime, it’s anyone’s guess which team Kikuchi will choose, as he implied earlier this month he’s open to joining any of the majors’ 30 franchises.

Sounds like he's about to sign with the M's. These guys must really hate plane rides. I hope the M's are overpaying here.

Hurl is to blame for this!

Looks like a reasonable contract for the Mariners as far as terms go. It's pretty limited risk when you can bail after 3 years.

I thought we would be more aggressive in our pursuit, but the fact that he signed with an embarrassingly bad organization tells me that we didn't put forth a competitive offer.

He would have gone where the money was, but I think the Jays would have had to blow everyone out the water for him to choose Toronto over a west coast team. We don't have the New York appeal, and this isn't blind bids anymore like what happened with Darvish. Most Japanese players will probably end up on west coast teams if they have any say in the matter.

I'd be interested to know what the Jays offered though.
