Cahill to the Angels. 1-yr/$9M.

So who the f***'s pitching for Toronto in 2019?

Cahill would have been a good get at that rate. Still some interesting names on 1-year deals who would likely be attracted to the opportunity afforded by our lack of depth:

Shoemaker

Buchholz

Anderson

Hellickson

Holland

Sanchez

Santana

Pomeranz

I’d take a flier on any two of those guys.

So another article on SN today by Shi about Montreal’s effort to get a team.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/inside-montreals-cautious-meticulous-attempt-bring-back-mlb/

They seem to think it is Montreal and Portland in competition.

I was listening to MLB radio the other day and they had former players and Execs on having an informal ad hoc disvussikn on expansion or relocation. Montreal didnt even come up.

Nashville, Las Vegas, Charlotte area, Portland.. These articles in Canada probably get traffic, but I really think it is false hope.

WOW! Did not realize Shoe got non-tendered. This changes the entire offseason outlook IMO and Atkins should be ALL. OVER. HIM.

I had no idea Anibal Sanchez was a thing again. Now he's getting 20 mil.

He's not, the Nats are stupid dumb dums

Daniel Murphy is close with the Rockies.

I wouldn't be completely opposed to Murphy signing here if it was something like 2/25. Anyway, I doubt we make any major position player moves.

Murphy would have never signed here.

Drew Pomeranz and Burch Smith.

I know SOMEONE in the Jays FO has pushed hard for Burch Smith recently. Can't imagine that person isn't pushing hard now.

Did you miss all of last season? His 2.83 ERA was top 10 in the league.. certainly looked he was good again.

Pomeranz actually seems like a realistic sign. Was terrible last year so would take a one year deal, had success in the East, and for all the mouth breathers on social media he was drafted by Cleveland when Shapiro was GM (I think) so we’d get the added benefit of casuals hating it for that reason alone. Have to be sure that his velocity can get back to normal though, or he’s likely s*** going forward.

Santa: Nick Pivetta: Does he take the next step this year? Or will he be a bag of coal under the tree?

Eric A Longenhagen: On a truly contending team I think that guy is in the bullpen.

okay

Both FG prospect guys are actually kinda dumb.

Sammy Sooser: Why does Bellinger have a 45 grade as a runner? At 28.9 ft/sec, he’s tied with Andrew Stevenson, who is also a 70. What gives? 2 and a half grades is a very large gap, and league average is 27.0 ft/sec.

Eric A Longenhagen: Sprint speed is peak speed and peak speed does not factor in acceleration. Our grades are based on home to first times, which obviously have a component of acceleration. Also, we don’t update prospect tool grades after they graduate. Yet.

In all seriousness, I'm a fan of both their work. But that Pivetta take is just bad.

Why the f*** is speed based on home to first? Does he know that runners have to run to the other bases as well?

What I think actually happened:

"Listed as a 1B, just slap a 45 grade on speed"

Eric will always have a soft spot in my heart because he did not totally shootdown my question of Garrett Cooper being a true talent 170 wRC+ guy.

He was gentle, figuring anyone asking that question must be 10 yrs old

I have the temperament and maturity of a 10 year old so that just even further proves the theory that man is a genius.

Jays are in on Kikuchi, and their front office have said they'll wait out the bigger FA's. They'll get someone on that list BTS posted, Shoemaker would ne nice, but I've read from a lot of different sources on MLBTR that they're in on Mike Fiers.

Kikuchi would obviously be boner inducing, add Shoemaker/Fiers etc, that would be damn sweet!

Oh, or Shelby Miller, just for you jaysblue, lol.

I feel like Kikuchi is really a perfect option for us, so if we get him I really don't care what other scrap heap SP we sign. They won't be here when it matters anyway. Fiers is basically Estrada with a great curve rather than change.
