TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 (edited) The link I went to look it up had Heisey on it so you're right. I can't believe this is even a thing that you would know off-hand at any time lol. I volunteered while in school at a Sport Program in St. Jacobs I looked up if there was ever a Mennonite athlete. Turns out there have been plenty but I remembered Heisey for some reason. Plus I know so many useless facts Edited December 4, 2018 by TheHurl

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 You guys are nuts, Bauer is a self absorbed ass, not surprising though peeps here like a troll and tool lol. (That was a pretty good tweet dou).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 (edited) holy f*** I love Trevor Bauer Even though he is spending his off-season calling out your boy Bregman? Only thing he has wrote that I didn't like is saying "I was better than Kluber last year" I understand the honesty of the statement but leave your own teammates out of it. Between his hatred and refusal to take long term contracts he'll end up the most interesting free agent ever. Bauer talking about him and Bregman's back and forth also right after Perez talked about how Bauer's Twitter posts are a non issue in the clubhouse as they are entertained too Edited December 4, 2018 by TheHurl
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Patrick Corbin to the Nationals 6 years - $125M
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Jon Heyman of Fancred says it'll be six-year deal worth $140 million
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 A couple things: 1) There's a big difference between $140M and $125M... which is it? 2) LOL @ Jon Heyman, WTF is Fancred 3) I thought Jon Heyman worked at Fanrag, which was already embarrassing enough
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 6 years - $125M Wow. He had one hell of a year, but that's a long contract to give someone who relies mostly on the slider, and has had TJS probably in part because of it.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Nationals nearing deal with Chirinos
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 140M WITH deferrals? Good God, that contract is gonna be a disaster imo.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 140M WITH deferrals? Good God, that contract is gonna be a disaster imo. The Nats love their deferrals don't they? Just so much risk in this deal IMO.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Only threw 16% and 23% sliders in the 2 years before TJS. He's been healthier since he started throwing more sliders, because pitchers. correlation =/= causation
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Rays name Jonathan Erlichman, 28 years old, as a (hopefully) uniformed coach. Process and analytics coach. Wow!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Does this preclude a Harper return? Roll with a Soto, Robles, Eaton OF?
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Does this preclude a Harper return? Roll with a Soto, Robles, Eaton OF? That OF looks pretty sweet to me. Not to mention that Michael A. Taylor is maybe an excellent 4th OF.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 6 years - $125M If you have kids in baseball.. make them pitch. Almost 21M per year for Corbin till he's 36ish? Yikes.

That can be lethal.

I remember when the Jays were crazy for giving Bautista 65 over 5 because he only had one good year. Corbin will turn 35 in the last year of his contract. Corbin had a 2.47 FIP. That's at the level of an ace. If he puts up numbers any where close to that the next 3 years the deal is going to look cheap. I'm not saying there isn't risk, but I don't think you need to average the last 3 years for every player to determine his value. No guts no glory.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 No one argues that, it's term. Given how good the Yankees and Sox are, we better get used to term. If we don't give extra years for guys who's going to come to the Jays over the next few years. We're going to have a lot of cash to spend in a couple years, but it won't do us any good if we can't convince anyone to come here.
