$2M gamble for Detroit. Still only 29 and is a lefty. Maybe he turns into the next Cliff Lee? Doubt it but a very low risk gamble for Detroit.

I would have been okay with us giving him that to be a reliever. His relief numbers were passable, outside of a really ugly home run rate.

K/BB ratio really solid as a reliever. Andrew Miller was also 29 when he had his breakout season out of the bullpen. I think if a team experiments with him as a reliever, could pay nice dividends.

I wouldn't mind us potentially claiming Burch Smith and Alex Meyer either. Meyer is still pre-arbitration, so even if the shoulder is a problem all year you can simply stick him on the DL. High (but low cost) risk, high reward situation. Smith has had good success in the minors, can throw upper 90s, and is also pre-arbitration.

Chisenhall signs with Pirates for $2.75 million. Great signing for them.

Yup. Thought he'd be a good fit in Toronto to be honest.

Granderson voted Man of the Year for 3rd time by players

Nov 28, 2018

IRVING, Texas (AP) Free agent outfielder Curtis Granderson became the first three-time winner of the Marvin Miller Man of the Year, part of the players' association's Players Choice Awards.

The 37-year-old Granderson, the winner in 2009 and 2016, split last season between Toronto and Milwaukee. He was followed in the voting by Arizona first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout. The award is given annually to a player for on-field performance and contributions to the community that inspire others.

Boston designated hitter J.D. Martinez was voted Player of the Year, Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts was selected the AL's Outstanding Player and Milwaukee's Christian Yelich was chosen the NL's Outstanding Player.

Tampa Bay lefty Blake Snell was the AL's Outstanding Pitcher and New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom the NL's Outstanding Pitcher. New York Yankees third baseman Miguel Andujar and Atlanta outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. were the Outstanding Rookies. Free agent outfielder Cameron Maybin and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp were the Comeback Players of the Year. Maybin was with Miami and Seattle this year.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/sportsnets-jeff-blair-wins-canadian-baseball-hall-fames-jack-graney-award/

Sportsnet’s Jeff Blair has been named the winner of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame’s 2018 Jack Graney Award. The award is given out each year to a member of the media who has made significant contributions to baseball in Canada through their life’s work.

They must be running out of people to give that award to. This *******'s been doing nothing but polluting the minds of Canadians with utter nonsense his entire life. While searching this, I also found out that Blair's 2017 HOF vote got lost in the mail somehow. Based on who he voted for - maybe the Baseball Gods had something to do with it.

This guy votes for some of the PED guys - Bonds, Clemens + Manny....but then goes on to vote for Jorge Posada - but not for Pudge Rodriquez?

Da f*** is wrong with this guy? You know the process is broken when this ******* gets a vote. Might as well let Barker vote for christ sakes.

I picked up Muncy in the LoD for about a week at the start of last season because I liked his AAA numbers and then dropped him before he got hot. :(

I plucked up O'Hearn, for nada... hope he keeps it going but unlikely.

Not last season?

Yeah not last season, but within the last 2-5. Just pointing out how much good Rule 5 talent there's been.

Looks really nice. Just hopefully they build a nice district around the ballpark with bars and restaurants. Not familiar with Oakland but heard the old ballpark was in a crappy area with nothing around.

I picked up Burch Smith in the LOD yesterday.

Looks excessive though it being half way onto the river is an interesting concept. This looks like something that no businessman in his right mind would build without asking someone else (taxpayers) to pay for it.

I like the motto on their website "rooted in Oakland". Pretty appropriate for a team that spent more than half of its history in other cities.

Idk what's wrong with you people but every single thing they have going there in 3ds max or whatever looks like s***. The stadium looks stupid, the old coliseum isn't an actual colosseum, f*** off, and the design is so hilariously impractical and costly.

Coolest part of it is that they are doing this to the old Coliseum

How is this cool in any way shape or form? It's dumb. What is it, like a mass outdoor homeless shelter? Are they trying to make it look like an ampitheatre? Also, there are a bunch of people there while absolutely nothing is happening. "Hey honey, wanna go sit in the ruins of our old s***** baseball stadium in the middle of nowhere all day?" "Yes dear, that's a great idea!"

If only you could just plop people wherever you want them to be in real life.
