jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Goddamn Twins pitching staff--Yanks walk it off, with Gary Sanchez hitting a 3-run walkoff HR off Fernando Rodney. Twins are 8-12.. suddenly, Cleveland's early road to an AL Central title is looking VERY easy..
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 It's April. My 79 wins prediction stands. You have a terrible track record with predictions so pardon me if I just throw it in the trash.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 As much as I hate the Yankees, it pleases me to see the garbage that is Minnesota get put in its place.

Haha, says the guy that wanted to trade Sanchez for nothing to the guy that called Sanchez future 1-2 starter. Also, it's April, you shouldn't be getting excited.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 board wager offered? Nah, if the Jays pitching stays healthy they easily surpass 79 wins. If a normal year with a couple of starters out for extended periods, 79 should be about right.

Also, it's April, you shouldn't be getting excited. Yeah and Sanchez has been terrible for pretty much his entire career, including this year...so not sure what your point is. Maybe you don't know how to read a stat page?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Mariners already up 3-0 on Cleveland--will someone please get the Indians some offense? No wonder the AL Central is a joke..
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Haha, says the guy that wanted to trade Sanchez for nothing to the guy that called Sanchez future 1-2 starter. so you were both wrong?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Rays are streaking! Up 6-0 and about to win 6 in a row after a horrible start--who knew? They're looking like the pests again..

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 It's the rays way. Cue the Jays having a horrible time against them again. That's what I fear. However, they've been playing the O's and Twins--teams with terrible pitching, so it's difficult to evaluate.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 so you were both wrong? I never wanted to trade him for nothing. Jim's been ingesting too much CNN.

Maybe you don't know how to read a stat page? 5 fWAR and 9.1 rWAR in 385 innings is terrible. That's good to know.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 5 fWAR and 9.1 rWAR in 385 innings is terrible. That's good to know. Pretty much his entire career obviously excludes the one season where he was good. Not sure if you're aware, but games are separated into seasons, and seasons are standalone events.

Not sure if you're aware, but games are separated into seasons, and seasons are standalone events. So why exactly should we ignore a recent season where a pitcher won the ERA title? It certainly counts for something when discussing his future performance, more than a season where he was injured in my opinion. We've got enough evidence by now to say that advanced metrics are undervaluing Sanchez' contributions, but people are still using them to say that he stinks. At some point, you just have to admit that he's a very good starting pitcher that is a huge part of this team.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Oakland have optioned Kendall Graveman to AAA after his bad start to the season.

If you think he's a #1-2 starter, I doubt anything will change your mind.
