onwego Verified Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Brandon Belt had a record-breaking 21 pitch AB last night. didn't Richie Ashburn foul off 18 in a row, hitting a woman in the head and then hitting her in the head as they stretchered her out of the stadium.......
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I think the Nats will be fine. Its a tough thing to be without Eaton, Murphy, and Rendon The problem is that the NL East is much stronger this year--Nats need to do better than they've been. Outside of Miami, there are no more pushovers--the Mets, Braves and Phillies have significantly improved, meaning Washington is facing its first real threat in 3 years.. the bigger issue is that this may be their last chance, as Bryce Harper is a free agent at season's end, and it's very unlikely the Nats will be able to afford him--and the roster around him is facing significant losses this offseason, which will leave the Nationals gutted and headed for a significant rebuild. It's the same problem that is hitting Baltimore with Machado--but worse, as the O's are already awful.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Bwahahaha... Carlos Gomez with his walk-off HR today, it's a must see... love it! https://www.tsn.ca/mlb/video/mlb-twins-6-rays-8~1376893 Lol that's awesome. I hate that this kind of thing is frowned upon. Agreed What's wrong with celebrating. And he directed it as his own dugout. Not against the pitcher Fine by me Fine by me as well but Carlos Gomez has been doing this s*** for years. Including when he was a member of the Texas Rangers during the year they lost their marbles at Bautista for doing a cool bat flip. Not sure why I'm pointing this out other than the fact that the Rangers suck.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 (edited) Angels bullpen loses Blake Wood to the DL due to an elbow impingment. Huge blow for an overworked Angels bullpen, especially for one who was pitching well. And thanks to Jaime Barria's 21 pitch at-bat with Brandon Belt, the Angels were forced to have the bullpen throw 7 innings yesterday--at the worst possible time, when they're about to play the top tier Houston Astros. To get fresh arms, Eduardo Paredes is back with the club (injury callup), and Justin Anderson has been rushed up from the minors to give the bullpen a fresh arm, despite having just 3.2 IP in AAA. This is what happens when your bullpen has thrown 99.2 IP so far this year (worst in MLB). And now their SP depth has been depleted more--Parker Bridwell is now hurt as well with elbow issues. The nightmares of injury issues with the Angels continues.. Edited April 23, 2018 by jaysfan2014

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Projections LOVED Wilmer Font this past off season. I remember having to do a double take at his projected price on the fangraphs auction calculator.

Those 2 and Richards need to hold the rotation together until help comes from either injury returns or a trade.

Didn't trust him as a lefty on the road against the Stros who generally kill lefties.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Didi Gregorious has 7 HT, leads the league in slugging percentage, and so far 15 walks vs 8 strikeouts All 7 of his dongers have come at home, and they've all been pulled into that ridiculous short porch. Not saying he's not a good player, but that ******** stadium is the story here more than anything else.
