Justin Wilson just got rekt by the Bucs... Polanco with 2 jacks... ;)

Sorry Hurl.

He was on my bench until today too. I care more for the Survivor pool. Need to take 2 of 3 from the Braves this weekend.

Yeah, that's what I was referencing.

was hoping for a couple of holds from Hicks and Norris, thats out the window, s***.

I was hoping he wouldn't find the strike zone until after the guys I own in various leagues were up, but he found it just in time

Clayton Richard as a PH... breaks up a no-hitter, lol.

First time an MLB team 1 hit a club in MLB history giving up it's lone hit to a pitcher, since 1935.

That's trippy and cool.

Bases clearing triple for Ohtani. Dude is so f***ing good.

Ohtani was also intentionally walked in the 9th.

The Padres sent up a pitcher to pinch hit in the 7th inning? WTF? wha...what the f*** is wrong with that organization?

is it generally agreed that Roger Clemens' 12.1 WAR is the single-season record in the modern era?

If so, anyone else thinks that Ohtani will likely smash that record this season?

He'd be lucky to get half that

Can I answer no to both of those questions? What WAR calculation are you using? Fangraph's says Clemens 1997 WAR was 10.7 while Baseball Reference says it was 11.9....both of which are topped by Barry Bonds in 2002 (12.7)

I'd love to see Ohtani be that good. It would be fantastic for baseball, but he loses value because he DH's and is a part time player - so it's incredibly unlikely he'll approach 12-13 WAR in a season.

Also you have to be uh...kinda good to post a +10 WAR season, like his teammate has, the leader in WAR all time through age 25. It's been 14 games, it'll be unreal if Ohtani surpasses 5-6 WAR, let alone competing for the best single season in the modern era. People might need to tamper expectations a bit.

He won't get anywhere near 10 WAR this year due to innings restrictions, but the Angels need to start getting him in the lineup more.

I didn't realize he said "this year". My comments were more based on his career peak.

I would be interested to see if Ohtani actually gets to play some RF this year. If the Angels are competing and hes hitting well you have to believe he will be in the lineup everyday hes not pitching.
