Alford + Travis + Greene + Gurriel for Yelich + Castro plz

There's no way that pile of crap is the best offer for Yelich. Does Gurriel even have value? I think a lot of teams would probably pass on giving him the 19M or whatever he's still owed.

But he's Cuban, and Miami loves Cubans! You know, a month ago I would have agreed that this package was laughable, but then I saw the horrific garbage returns for Ozuna and Cole, and now I'm thinking Alford (a legit Top 40 prospect) is a reasonable centrepiece, especially considering Miami's directive to desperately shed salary.

Is it just me or are more and more players making it known that they want to be traded because their team sucks? When you signed a long term contract, you gave up the freedom to make that choice. Seeing the Starlin Castros and Josh Harrisons of the world act like they're above toiling away on a non-playoff team is annoying.

While it's obviously not just you, I disagree. You only get one career. If you have signed a contract with a team that either is successful or ambitious, and then the team either enters a rebuild or trades you to a rebuilding team, it's understandable that you'd want to leave. If you are good enough that most teams would want you then it even makes sense that a trade would suit both the team and player (obviously that's debatable with Starlin Castro).

I was so confused reading this because I couldn't fathom why you would have such hatred for Buster Posey, who is undoubtedly the Giants' best player. Yeah MadBum is a dick.

Without including framing - at which Posey is like best in the league category, to the benefit of Bumgarner - the latter has only out-WAR'd the former twice: once in 2011 when Posey was out for the year and once in 2016. Posey also projects for over a win better, and again this is without factoring in framing. It's pretty clear to me that Posey is the superior player, and always has been.

That's right, I put my Grant boots on for this one.

Yeah and Posey has also been almost universally recognised as the best catcher in the league for a few years now.

If you aren't good enough to earn a no-trade clause, then shut the f*** up and play for the time that acquires you. These guys are astronomically lucky to even be playing in the major leagues. If they don't want to play for a s***** team, then they should play so well that competitive teams line up to acquire them. The fact of the matter is, Starlin Castro and Josh Harrison aren't great players. They are average players making $10M per season. If they spend the rest of their careers on last place teams, that's too f***ing bad. Somebody has to play on those teams!

Baseball is slowly becoming basketball. Hilarious hearing Starlin say that he doesn't want to go through another rebuild like he did with the Cubs when the Cubs won the season right after he was traded. Maybe you should want to go through a rebuild and be part of the reason for a win this time instead of the guy who gets traded because there are better options out there.

He's reasonably projected to end up a top 10 catcher all-time by the time his career is over. Bumgarner is a fantastic pitcher, his douchey antics aside he's a fun guy to watch pitch, but he's just not on Posey's level of excellence.

There's a decent chance the same thing happens to Starlin again this year....

I kind of hate Starlin - please stop suggesting the Jays should trade for him guys.

I watch a lot of Sunday night baseball and thus believe Yadi, Shapeshifter, Demigod of Catchers, Hero of Men - and Women is the best in the league (and of all-time).

Yeah, but Bumgarner is even worse than that because he gets pissed at bat flips/HR admiring when guys hit one off him, but when HE hits one, oh, then it's all ok.

f***ing douche. He must be in my top 5 biggest douchebags in baseball and I hate how much people idolize him.

Pist!!!!1!!1!!!

Yeah, it would have sounded so much better if I had said "The Giants' second best player...you know, not Posey but the other guy" just rolls off the tongue, and especially helpful since it was entirely unclear who I was talking about.

Also, I laughed at "undoubtedly" because it made you sound like Grant, ********. I know how to read fangraphs.

Maybe trading for him...and then flipping him is the key to a World Series. Not that the Yankees are ever going to win a World Series

You could have said "the Giants' best pitcher", "one of their best players", etc. Making a factually incorrect statement brings down your post's intention and impact.

And yes, Posey is undoubtedly the Giants' best player. Fite me

Oh my god guys who the f*** even cares?

Clearly Boxy does since he seems pretty triggered by me pointing out he made an obvious factual mistake over something so trivial.

Man I can see why Grant does this, it takes such little effort to appear to be a glorified douchebag who's always right. Except, you know, the fact that he usually isn't.

You don't want to fight me. I would crush you.

Your mom made an obvious factual mistake about 15 years ago

Sox with a very fair 100M/5 year offer for JD Martinez.

That's a pretty fair offer if you are projecting him for about 10 WAR over the 5 years. I'd offer that contract too, gladly.

Yeah at that range I’d be in. He’s a flawed player but he f***ing mashes.
