Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Is he pretty like Conner Greene too? IMO, the Phillies have too many good positional players to target Sixto (cool name though). I'd want one of those top position prospects, + Sixto and more, to even consider letting them pry Stroman away.

Sixto Sanchez, RHP image: https://www.baseballamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Sixto-Sanchez-2017-mj-300x197.jpg BORN:July 29, 1998. B-T: R-R | HT: 6-0 | WT: 200 SIGNED: Dominican Republic, 2015. SIGNED BY: Carlos Salas. MINORS: 5-7, 3.03 ERA | 84 SO | 18 BB | 95 IP SEE MORE Track Record: At a tryout for a Cuban catcher, it was Sanchez instead who grabbed the Phillies' attention. They quickly signed him for $35,000, and after a breakout 2016 season in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, he continued his ascension in 2017—he reached high Class A Clearwater in August—as one of the best pitching prospects in the game. Scouting Report: Sanchez is one of the hardest-throwing starting pitchers in the minors, but you wouldn't know it from his delivery. He has easy, fluid mechanics that he repeats consistently, helping him command a lively fastball that sits in the mid-90s and touches 100 mph. Sanchez can overpower hitters with his fastball, though he's working to polish his secondary pitches to miss more bats. His changeup flashes plus with good sink and run, and it helps him thwart lefties, though he needs to do a better job of repeating the same arm slot as his fastball. His slider is average now but could be above-average if he can add more power. The Future: Sanchez's fastball command should help him continue to move quickly, with a chance to join the big league rotation by 2019 and develop into a front-line starter along the lines of the Yankees' Luis Severino. Todd Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 Question. Does anyone have any clue on what the jays management team has in mind? Or are they trying to force a long rebuild again.

Fiddlehead Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Can they trade Donaldson and still contend? This question was asked on blue jays banter. My answer would be yes if St.Louis or who ever had the right package. And the jays could sign the right free agents what do you think Can they contend with him? Were they better in 2015 during his MVP season? They were close, in appearance only, but a still a long way from even getting to the WS. They’ve been on a steady decline ever since Shapiro arrived.
Todd Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 With Tampa trading Evan Longoria to the Giants for a good little package. Just what could the jays get for Josh Donaldson. From say St. Louis or any other team. Ideas?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 The package I have suggested before that I think makes sense for both teams St Louis Alex Reyes Jedd Gyorko Randal Grichuk For Josh Donaldson.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 The package I have suggested before that I think makes sense for both teams St Louis Alex Reyes Jedd Gyorko Tyler O'Neill For Josh Donaldson. Yup... or Bader?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Yup... or Bader? Yeah, I would be fine with either of those.
Todd Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 The packaged you suggested for Josh Donaldson isn't big enough. And would be a slap in the face to the jays to trade. Has to be at least 6 or 7 good players. 3 mlb ready players and 3 or 4 top prospects. For the jays to even listen. Top level players who are close. or to improve the jays upper prospect levels.

Todd Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 maybe add say Oscar Mercado and Michael Wacha who the jays have been after for a couple of years now.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Don't think the Cards would do that. Probably not but that's what I would insist on.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Probably not but that's what I would insist on. I'd easily do that deal without Grichuk. Hell, I'd trade Donaldson for Reyes and a couple lottery tickets. Something like Reyes/Mercado/Gomber would be a fair return.

Todd Verified Member Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 Everybody know Donaldson is walking after this year. So time is now to trade him. Have to get at least five players for him. For a fast rebuild and still contend for the playoffs. With a couple of good signings and other trades. The right free agents. Or other Trades. Without trade the jays top 2 prospects.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Probably not but that's what I would insist on. I don't think Jays need Grichuk and even without him they would do that deal.

Make them throw in Gyroko and Weaver? And then maybe see if they'd take back Morales and/or Tulo?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Since the Jays haven't made any significant moves and the talent available is starting to thin...... at this point JD for Reyes and a couple of high risk/reward guys in the lower minors is fine by me

Todd Verified Member Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Meanwhile, the Cardinals perhaps have some cause to believe the Blue Jays are willing to consider moving star third baseman Josh Donaldson, per Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He suggests there’s some indication from the Jays side that the team isn’t dead-set against a move if it brought back MLB pieces as well as prospect value.

The opportunity for the Jays to improve, fill holes, and contend in 2018 is starting to close. But still some time left. Yer just mad that your constant predictions that JD will not be moved this offseason are in jeopardy.
