P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 While I was never the high guy on Rowdy (IIRC), it's worth noting that, aside from being obviously hampered by his personal issues, he also changed his approach last season to go the opposite way a whole lot more. It led to an unsustainable massive decline in his HR/FB% (4.5!). His BABIP was also the lowest of his MiLB career; and while he's not exactly a burner on the base paths, it's apparent he ran into a whole lot of bad luck last season. Just a little food for thought. If you look at the underlying numbers, it's pretty easy to give him a mulligan on 2017. And although his ceiling is limited at 1B, I'm not off Rowdy just yet. Keep the belief alive.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 So does it have to match exactly, or does it just need to have the same ten players?

I wouldn't even know how to think, never mind having the thought of knowing your Mom might die, and play pro ball. Crazy!
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Who in the hell is Kevin Smith?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Who in the hell is Kevin Smith? https://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/99350/kevin-smith Coming out of high school, Smith was small and skinny. Scouts liked his glove actions and arm strength, but he needed to go to college to develop. Smith found instant success at Maryland, earning the starting shortstop job as a freshman and quickly developing a reputation for highlight-reel defensive plays. With the draft nearing, Smith's defense remains his defining characteristic. He has plus hands and body control and flashes plus arm strength, though some evaluators note that his arm has been inconsistent this spring. Offensively, Smith shows above-average bat speed and raw power. He batted .301 as a rising sophomore in the Cape Cod League last summer, giving evaluators hope that his pure batting had improved. Smith struggled early on this spring, casting further doubt on his ability to make contact and dropping him to the lower third of the Terrapins' order. His power remains ahead of his hitting ability. In a college shortstop class devoid of players likely to stick at the position, Smith should still be a high draft pick, in spite of his shaky offensive track record.
