jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 He's probably going to get 4/60 million. That's a pretty hard pass for me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 He's probably going to get 4/60 million. That's a pretty hard pass for me. I wouldn't give him four years. Something like the 3/36 Happ got would be about my max. I don't trust Cobb at all long term.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 He's probably going to get 4/60 million. That's a pretty hard pass for me. Me too. I'd rather just nab Liriano again, or maybe Anderson (along with Smyly for 2019). Signing Tyson Ross and Hutch for Buffalo would be fantastic too.

I don't trust Cobb at all long term. probably not going to be enough to get him. I don't mind 4 years up to 48, but if we're going cheap why don't we just get Lackey on a 1 year 7 mil deal.

Signing Tyson Ross and Hutch for Buffalo would be fantastic too. There are still a few guys who will likely sign 1-2 year deals and would be valuable given that the team doesn't currently have a 5th starter: Cahill, Garcia, Lackey, and Sabathia are all interesting to varying degrees. And the, as you say, guys like Hutch and Ross for AAA.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 How much do you think Liriano gets as a FA?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 How much do you think Liriano gets as a FA? 5M would be my guess, 1 year

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Also saw we were in strong consideration to try and get Harrison from the Pirates. I guess we would be trading one of our middle infielders...Travis most likely...or Donaldson? Would be way too many infielders I think
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Cobb to the Cubs was the most slam dunk move of the off-season.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Cobb is pretty good. Basically lost 2 years due to his TJS but other than that he's been a good bet for over 2 WAR each year. 4 years for any pitcher makes me nervous but I'd give him 3. I think his track record is probably better than Happ's was back when we signed Happ to the 3 year deal so I think it'd probably take more money than that.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 If we could get him for a Happ type contract sure, any more and I'd rather let someone else take the risk.
Key22 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Attracting pitchers to play 18 versus New York and Boston will be a bit of a tough sell. This is Toronto - if anyone offers Cobb 3/36 then we have to offer 4/52
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 The Jays should focus on guys they will be able to deal at the deadline when they are out of it.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Liriano for one year instead, plus we can fetch a good return at treading deadline being a lefty expert like we did this past season.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 The FA market is s***. Better to sign a one year stop gap than to get stuck with a bad deal.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Zero chance of this happening.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 If we could get him for a Happ type contract sure, any more and I'd rather let someone else take the risk. Chatwood got 3/38M. Cobb gets more.
Ray Verified Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Cobb is looking at $50M at least after Chatwood got nearly $40M. Might get the same deal Ian Kennedy got.
