Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Based on the chart Davidi tweeted yesterday, Stroman was the ass, not the ump. The ejections were wrong, but Stroman had no business complaining as much as he did. Stroman did nothing wrong and that's where you are mistaken...nothing wrong with yelling (even "f***") when u walk somone...the ump has no right to instigate the whole thing and then throw him out for telling him he wasn't talking to him...period end of story. The ump was pure garbage and his antics have no place in baseball

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 What was colorados logic signing the guy to his contract, how many fullish seasons has he played, one?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 What was colorados logic signing the guy to his contract, how many fullish seasons has he played, one? When they signed him to the contract, he was basically almost Donaldson with the bat and glove, but playing SS. Putting up 5+ WAR a season. He produced another 3 similar seasons after signing it too.

EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Gonna have to comeback yet again I guess
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 What was colorados logic signing the guy to his contract, how many fullish seasons has he played, one? 9 seasons overall, 3 of which were full, 2 mostly full, 1 half full, his debut season (obviously short) and 2 gongshow injury seasons.

Signed him to a huge deal, got his best remaining years, and then found a sucker to take the worst years of the contract at full price before having to suffer any of the decline. I mean, they took Reyes' carcass in return, but that was a small price to pay for getting out of a deal even Stevie Wonder could see being unmovable within two years.

I'd say there was a pretty drastic difference at SS, especially on D the moment we got Tulo. I mean it was so nice seeing routine plays be routine for the first time in a long while. He was a big reason we got to the postseason, Price aside.

Paying Reyes $41 Million to play for someone else is not insignificant.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 So we're getting no hit by who?? Edit: Nevermind
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Not sure I can see joy bats in the top 5 Jays of all time. ... but I guess he'd be close. I mean, 4 right off the top of my head I'd put in front of him.... Halladay, Stieb, Delgado, Alomar.... then it starts to get a bit conversation worthy
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Paying Reyes $41 Million to play for someone else is not insignificant. Sure, but getting a top pitching prospect and turning 5/98 (Tulo) into 2/48 (Reyes) is still pretty good even with Reyes' decline. They didn't even want Reyes, they just needed to take the salary to improve the trade offer. Imagine if the Jays traded Tulo prior to the 2017 season, got a top pitching prospect, and took back 28mm in deadweight to cover for the 4/78 Tulo had left on his contract. We'd all be pretty happy, I think.

It's easy to forget this ^ when staring at what we paid in prospects and with what we are seeing in Tulo as this season unfolds.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Kole Calhoun having a poor season. Time to buy low, Atkins.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Wonder if they will get desperate enough to call of Gurriel or somone else We have no reason to be desperate.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 If Tulo is out for a while, then Refsynder will probably play 2b with Goins at short. Yes, Goins will never leave the organization. Ever.

I think I'd probably put Tony Fernandez ahead of him though. Not that he comes close to making the list, but Roger Clemens put up 18.9 WAR for us in 2 seasons lol.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 We have no reason to be desperate. When Barney and Goins are playing everyday for a couple of months...it could get ugly lol

I think you're overrating Tulo here, a 'big reason' we made the playoffs in 2015? I don't think so, I mean f***, he racked a measly up 2.3 WAR that season and his WRC+ was only 88 in the second half. With the money we're paying him and the prospect we gave up, that is disgusting.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Annoying game annoying season, brother.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Damn the media got me all excited about a Liriano trade and it's been crickets ever since.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 This is Tulo we're talking about here. He's done for the season.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Hearing Ryan Refsnyder could be called up to the big club.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
