Wouldn't be completely shocked if its Coghlan DFA'd to add an extra reliver. Worst case it's Travis to DL.

Coghlan, Carerra need to go, what's going on with Pompey? He can't be worse.

When do we get rid of Grilli?

Can't be until after the Father's Day promotion or things would be pretty awkward.

I wouldn't be surprised if he soon lands on the DL with a phantom injury in order to give him some time to try and work through his issues.

His issues are that he sucks. That's why Atlanta DFA'd him. A stint on the DL doesn't help is you suck. He should get a job outside Rogers Centre selling grilled cheese sandwiches. He'd make decent money doing that as opposed to embarrassing himself pitching for the Jays.

The issue with Grilli, is he's kind of predictable. High 4SM and low and away Slider that's always either a ball or a hanger down the middle.

It probably is time to walk away from Grilli. He's 40, and projected for an ERA of 4-4.5 out of the pen. It was fun while it lasted.

I didn't even realize that Grilli was just replacement level with Toronto last year. Seemed better. He gets a lot of strikeouts for a replacement level arm.

He's like an old Neil Ramirez

Casual fans think that because he's in the Rogers cell phone commercials that he's some superstar. He sucks.

He had an incredible run with the jays for a while which everyone remembers, and then a brutal September which saw his numbers regress to replacement level.

I was making a prediction, we're all aware Grilli hasn't pitched well.

He's been given a lot of high leverage situations since coming over, management obviously has had faith in him. Not saying he'll ever be effective for us again, but I'm predicting we see a DL stint before they would stick a fork in him. Even if you get him back to being a replacement level middle reliever, that's better than nothing, we aren't exactly swimming in MLB ready pitching depth.

I remember many times in his dominant stretches last year that hitters were chasing bad fastballs that were up, maybe his luck is running out.

All the grilled cheese sandwiches have finally caught up to him. He should have been taking better care of his body by eating chicken, beef, veggies and eggs. Professional athletes can't get by on grilled cheese sandwiches alone.

This actually may be the top reason right now lol. Not only that he's featured prominently in a commercial. Hes in most of the spring training made TV ads. I guess they can edit him out. But he's also apart of one of the Charity auction prizes.

They marketed him so much lol. I don't understand why they went so heavy in on a 40-year. Osuna could have taken his spot in everything.

Charity auction prizes all have a "player may be swapped out" disclaimer on them I noticed, so would suck for whoever paid 5k or whatever to have a bbq with him, but I'm sure they could swap him for someone else.

But yeah, otherwise Grilli has been like a 6 FIP guy since September of last year. He had a great run the first couple months with the team last year, and obviously seems like a great personality guy, but his time of pitching effectively seem to be at an end.

I did not know that. The big prizes were a bit out of my price range.

I'm pretty sure it was called Fire Up The Grilli. I guess they can replace him with Smoak. I'm sure he knows a thing or 2 about Barbecue.

The marketing people and the GM don't synch up on this stuff. Atkins isn't on the phone with them telling them who they should promote or not. Conversely, promotional strategies will not factor in personnel decisions. Sometimes a player gets moved before a promotion. IIRC, Bob Wickman was one player who had it happen to him.

Amidst all his blunders, Zeke's amassed WAR equal to Jose, Tulo and Morales COMBINED this year and this guy wants him cut.

As a 4th outfielder, Carrera isn't that bad, especially considering what he is paid.

Short of paying for a (close to) guaranteed upgrade I've no issue with keeping him as a 4th outfielder until one or more of our prospects takes his place. To get someone who's likely to be better, we'd have to pay a lot more than what Carrera is paid. Just look at what Reddick got from the Astros - 4 years $52m projected for 1.5 WAR, if everything goes right he might give you up to 3 WAR. Solid but hardly a star.

The main issue is that he plays too often when we suffer from injuries, like this season.

Like most I'd like to see Pompey given a chance, but we have already seen that he can be worse than Carrera - the last chance he got he was so bad he ended up in double A.

Pearce was given a chance this season and he was so bad he ended up literally crying on the bench.

That doesn't mean that no one else (or those two) shouldn't be given more chances, but it does mean that (short of a trade or signing) we have no "guaranteed" improvement in house.

Was going to suggest a trade for Alex Gordon

Then I looked up his 2017 numbers and threw up in my mouth a little

s***. Things are ROUGH in Kansas City this year

I believe on average, the 4th OFer on a ML roster plays 162 games a year. It's an important position. Nobody really likes Zeke because he makes bonehead plays, but at the end of the day, he's an acceptable 4th OFer and by no means should be DFA'd - especially when our current alternatives are s***.
