How is this Gibbons' fault? He has to wait until the video guy tells the bench whether to challenge or not. If he takes too long that's on him, not the manager.

He said no...walked back into the dugout...then walked back out and said yes...if he just stayed out there until the final word came in we probably get the challenge in...and we have need to fire the replay guy for 3 years now

I really hate the review rules myself, I'd rather each team have 2 challenges and must challenge right away, based on the infielder or runner's instinct of safe or out.

 

Honestly, with how long video replay tends to take, I don't mind the opposing team consulting their video guy for 30 seconds rather than waste 3+ minutes on an inconclusive or clearly bad review. At the end of the day it's about getting the play right, not about shaving a couple of minutes off the game time. Now that we have this tool available, I'd much rather advocate for its use rather than reduce it to a limited number of replays per game, essentially giving bad umps the power to take over a game right back.
