Smoak needs to go.

Bring up Rowdy Tellez.

Hope and pray Liriano,Happ, Estrada get their s*** together.

Move Martin to number 8th or 9th hitter.

Pray JD gets better. Looked like he was limping slightly coming off the field.

Well let's be real, the team on paper is about 85 win tier, and that's assuming the old guys don't decline. The team itself is old as s***. As much as I want this team to make the playoffs again, eventually this core will get to a breaking point where they are just too old to contend and JD isn't enough to carry them. They might be there already. I just hope that if they right the ship and make a run, it's a real run. If not, there's a damn good haul to trade at the deadline if they struggle. A Brian Cashman type of trade deadline might be required. Then try again in 2018.

(I'm not giving up on 2017 yet for all you crazy bastards who will go nuts with this trade deadline talk...)

Simple changes:

Donaldson to DH

Morales to 1B

Smoak to LF

Martin to the bottom third of the order.

Smoak in LF?

1-6 blows, but wow. This board never learns. After 2015 and 2016, still ripping your garments.

You mean in 2015 and 2016 when we didn't start 1-6 and the division was significantly weaker? I think people have legit reasons to be concerned.

Not you too!

EDIT:

Wait, I thought you were King. Of course you too.

For reference:

2015 -- 23-30 on June 2, 50-51 at the deadline

2016 -- 11-14 in April, fighting for .500 until end May

Obviously 2017 guys need to wake the f*** up, but in the meantime please just dry your soft faces.

I keep making this same mistake whilst reading.

If you thought Eric Thames and Adam Lind were bad in the outfield...

I kept thinking he was King, too. Had to block the avatar to fix that.

Well your optimism is inspiring however it's hard to overlook the glaring issues with this roster.

How many posting starts have you made this year? Are you tinkering with your posting mechanics in hopes of lowering your reactionary/9?

I've saved several posters from the brink over the last couple of years. To some, I am a beacon.

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one. That's just such a King avatar to have.

Except this years team is weaker

It's not THAT much weaker. Rotation is identical, bullpen is probably about the same when factoring in the additions and subtractions, the hitters are mostly the same except a year older (for an already old core) with Morales being a downgrade from EE, and Pearce being an upgrade over our previous LF situation with potential for Pompey to eventually be healthy for more than a month and show what he's got. It's really not a bad team at all, sure maybe it's closer to .500 than to division winner, but definitely can't be writing anyone off 7 games into the regular season.

Yeah it's way too early to write the team off. We very well may look back on this time and say that it was the beginning of the end for this group but we won't have enough information to judge that until midseason.
