jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Guys this start to the season is a mirror image of last season relax Exactly--we were 2-4 in our first 6 games, and we ended up making the playoffs. At least we haven't been hit by any serious injuries or illness.. Red Sox are missing a lot of pieces due to the flu/bereavement, and the Yanks just lost Gary Sanchez for a while..

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 IMO either walk both or walk no one. Like you said you can't double up KK so what's the point of setting up a DP that you can't turn? Walk one. You may not double up KK, but the opportunity is at least there if it's sharply fielded. Walking no one means you're praying for a K or in-field pop only. s***** situation, but you just need to give yourself the most avenues to succeed. Going bases loaded increases the number of ways you can sudden death yourself.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 not to split hairs but we were 2-0 to start last season Then we lost 4 games in a row so....
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 f***ing people. Saying this team sucks right now. The team is playing just fine, all except Liriano. Four very good starts out of five. Lots of good plate appearances 1-9. Lots of walks. The power isn't there yet but it's game 5. As far as the bullpen...show me the bullpen that goes 12 innings in 2 days that doesn't have a result similar to what the Jays had these past two games. f***.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 not to split hairs but we were 2-0 to start last season Then lost 4 in a row to the Rays and Red Sox.. at this point, I really wish we'd get home soon.. why the hell did the sked makers have to send us to the Trop this early in the season?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Look, most teams would've walked both Dickerson and KK with Mallex on 3rd.. any sac fly or contact would win it for the Rays.. they had to try to get a double play. There's not much you can do.. and the Jays just didn't really have much available. On the other side, Rays are going to have some unavailability issues tomorrow--Colome and Cedeno are unavailable tomorrow, and Farquhar may not be available either due to throwing 30+ pitches on Friday.. and Odorizzi didn't pitch well in his last start.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 Your Leafs sure picked a good season to tank. Got yourselves a future HOFer. Yer dumn
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Yer dumn nothing wrong with tanking big guy
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 nothing wrong with tanking big guy Or the Leafs are a budding super club. There's too much talent, 9 rookies, lol.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 1-4 for the 1st time since 2004.. but that team was MUCH worse than the 2017 one. The 2004 team was absolutely plagued with injuries, poor starting pitching, and a bullpen that makes the current one look really good.. the current slump will reverse once the bats show and/or we start playing lesser competition..
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 5 games 2 blown saves Awesome!! With the Orioles pen we are 3-2 right now. Shapiro has one f***ing job fix the bullpen and he fails at it every year Fire this clown and bring back AA.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Even yesterday we don't lose if we sign a capable lefty instead of Howell. Nobody wanted him. Shapiro can't do anything right. It was the Andrew Miller trade that put the Indians over the top. If Shapiro was still in charge there he would have balked at that too. Whatever this team has it's still on AAs acquired stars. Dude has done absolutely nothing Oh wait he signed a fat DH after destroying our relationship with EE. Alex would have never let the EE debacle happen. The players loved him. He should still be president and GM of this team.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 As dumb as that sounds all you could hope for would be a K in that situation though, I don't like it but it kind of made sense. You're not going to double him up, and the sac fly is at 3rd. At least against Longoria you got the DP option. Yes Kiermaier isn't going to get doubled up often but he is an extreme ground ball guy

I know most have you on ignore anyway but you just wait for every down point and pick at the subject you know might get you an ounce of attention. It's the first time I have been the one to ban you in a long time.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 How long until I can bring up Gibbons' amazing record in 1-run games? Already off to an 0-2 start which puts him at 71-104 since taking over in 2013. if only gibby would have hit a homer in a couple key spots he could have turned that 0-2 record into a 1-1 or even 2-0 record.

The BP, which had been a major concern going in, has lived up (down?) to expectations. They really need an effective Osuna back ASAP and a lot more help from their offense.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Sanchez total beast Great news But damn they gotta stop digging the hole any deeper

The only real issue with the pen right now is LH relief--neither Howell or Loup have pitched well so far. But yes we do need Osuna back ASAP..

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Lol are people really complaining about f***ing Robert getting banned after he tries to bait people with some d-grade trolling? You guys do know he doesn't really hold any opinions and simply tries to goad people into getting mad, right? A Jays loss like that one is irresistible to him.
wk680 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 So you're fine continuing without Osuna and giving the current mediocre bullpen 1 run leads to try to hold on to!? f***ER
