Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Reports are the last roster spot will be between these two scrubs. Who you got? Upton easily, but would prefer Pagan over both.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I can't believe that scrub Zeke made the team
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Upton, without any question whatsoever.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Upton (along with Pearce at 1B) represents our only chance to actually have league average production at LF and 1B. Goins is a worse version of Barney.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Upton. Can't hit righties but at least can hit lefties.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 You can't compare s*** to s***
Gary Verified Member Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 You can't compare s*** to s*** Great insight. But this is a real decision that will need to be made tomorrow.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Great insight. But this is a real decision that will need to be made tomorrow. How is it a real decision when they are both replacement level that won't contribute to the teams win loss record
Gary Verified Member Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 How is it a real decision when they are both replacement level that won't contribute to the teams win loss record Because Jays management needs to decide whether Goins or Upton make the Jays final roster spot tomorrow. Is that easier for you to understand? I know it's a complicated concept.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Goins is a much more positive influence on the team. Upton may have more talent but he's a lazy lolligagger. Goins.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Goins is a much more positive influence on the team. Upton may have more talent but he's a lazy lolligagger. Goins. Reported.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Holy crap, this is actually a real roster battle? Good lord. Goins is like a pimple that won't go away.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 It also helps that Goins is half black, you know, for potential #BlackLivesMatterToronto public relations reasons. Wouldn't want to have a game shut down by a sit in.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Goins is more versatile.... and is just a year removed from a very good season. Goins.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 He's got that Derek Jeter tint Mulatto glow
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Goins is more versatile.... and is just a year removed from a very good season. Goins. What versatility? He can play above average defence at second base and shortstop. Barney already provides that.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 If I am Goins, I already have my stuff packed.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 What versatility? He can play above average defence at second base and shortstop. Barney already provides that. Sarcasm
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 (edited) Didn't even see this thread on the board, lol. Goins can GTFO! You option both Petit and Goins, I'm sure one will slide through. Edited April 1, 2017 by Spanky99
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Donaldson isn't 100% healthy and Travis is Travis.... Goins could be the damn guy
Santoki Verified Member Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Donaldson isn't 100% healthy and Travis is Travis.... Goins could be the damn guy We have more organizational depth in an emergency in the OF (Pompey, Cecilliani...I guess) than in the infield. However, there are still a couple of guys out there you can sign in case of a major injury to either an OF (Jose) or IF (Travis/JD). Keeping Goins would be the conservative approach. At some point Jose/Travis is going down though, so pick your poison who you want starting everyday for a little while.

Goins isn't even desireable depth because he's a) replacement level, and out of options. He's not a good enough player to warrant the lack of flexibility caused by him being out of options. If they really want replacement-level depth, there is a never-ending supply of Ryan Goinses. Just get one with options.
